I was thinking about how so many of the Science Polls get so few votes. I had an idea.

[Idea]

Remember how we took a direct route to Monotheism? And how I posted polls for EVERY tech even though we knew the answer?

Well, instead, I could outline key technologies, and hold a poll on our general research goal (GRG). I would PM a list of the needed techs to the president, and he would research them.

In the event one technology is blocked, I would hold side-tech (ST) polls for those little helpful techs that it wouldn't hurt to have.

[/Idea]

What do you think? I'll need the president's approval before I can actually do it, though.

I disagree. If people don't want to vote, then so be it. What if an emergency arises and we have to research another thing? Or if nobody wants a future tech, just want to chose one now, like if somebody wants Invention, but not Gunpowder, and then they want, banking.

So, if somebody wants tech 1a, but not 2, which needs 1a and 1b.
But after they get 1a, they want maybe, 2a, which is a prerequisite to 3.

Makje sense?

I agree, stay on a path, unless the path is blocked.

This was my first thought too. I would agree with this idea if there was some provision for when a big event takes place that was unforseen and requires a different stance on research. What if we just voted on a three or four tech path that is peaceful, and then get attacked by units which are equal or superior to ours? Do we continue researching peaceful techs? Some might say this should just be left to the discretion of the president, but I think it should be officially included that the president has to stop and allow for a new tech path to be voted on.

Okay, how's this?

Amendment 1:

In the event of an unforseen problem, including but not limited to war, a new science poll will be held to re-evaluate our current technological condition and future research goals.

I like it. I voted yes after seeing this.

I voted yes because its got to be a good idea if it cuts down on polls that the result is almost certain. There have been a few other polls like that...

Yes ..Good idea to cut down on polls. Suggest that you no more than 2 GRG as there is a potential conflict in interest (if 2 techs came up on the list and you had to decide which GRG to prioritise ). In all honesty I would trust in your judgement as I feel that getting on with the game is more important than having 100's of polls to decide which leg the horse should put forward first.
