well ... im glad firaxis have finally got the game to a release stage :) (in my opinion at least) i beleive the game is up to what they envisioned for it (althought not the greatness i envisioned) but lets not get into that

so anyway ... the ideas here should be realistic and not to far fetched for work done (so no "we want 3d terrain" ... just like AC)

1). improved trading screen, something that has trade deals that are ongoing (even only for your civ) and how many turns till they run out without having to go into each deal sepratly

2). improved diplomacy screen for more than 8 civs, faces are nice but i dont beleive nessary, perhaps little icon faces? but names of the civ are fine by me

these are the 2 features that NEED patching to make the game far less tedious, more polished and more streamlined

3). the modern battlefeild NEEDS to have different TYPES of units, there is no guerrilla warfare and that is the type of war that the small weak nations should be able to wage effectivly, i beleive this would also have the effect of creating a more ballanced endgame

4). we NEED to be able to trade units to other civs!! this would also create a more ballanced game!! exactly the same as with workers!

5). and air units need to be able to be given longer ranges at the worst in the editor, i dont see any reason that they are fixed to a max of 8 in the editor

i beleive that every other era has more or less got the unit composition right and is somewhat realistic makeup, exept for the modern era ... the one u spend most time in

these are the fixis i propose are crittical .... feel free to comment and add to

Isn't it fun to be a beta tester for Firaxis at fifty dollars a pop!

How about. . . .

1. Unit values and capabilities that aren't idiotic and non-historical? This has been discussed at length on the forums, unit by unit.

2. An Editor THAT DOESN'T CRASH when you create a new mod with new units (simply by changing some of the useless old ones, not by hacking).

3. An end to Settler Diarrhea.

4. An end to Wandering Workers.

5. Changing the Manhattan Project to a commerce-producing Internet Wonder. (I'm afraid to do it myself as it might crash again). Without a First Response option to a nuclear strike (not waiting for the next turn) I will NEVER use nukes.

6. A lot more techs.

7. A lot more units. This has also been discussed on the forums at length. Units that make historical sense, by the way.

8. Being able to toggle off that damn Culture Flipping nonsense.

9. Privateers and submarines being able to damage a rival's commerce merely by getting on their trade routes. These ships historically never were intended to atack enemy warships. The only nation that partly tried that, Japan, in WW II, found it to be a big flop.

10. Roads CAN be used by an invading force. Why shouldn't they??

11. Fortresses with real ZOC.

12. Automated, and stack, bombardment.

13. A Diplomatic AI that isn't just a bean-counting moron.

14. A FASTER game - not slower, which we got with 1.21.

15. A Cheat Mode, or at least give us the multi.sav cheat back.

16. SCENARIO BUILDING!!! And NOT in another disk we have to pay for.

And about sixty other things.

Since Firaxis never reads these, send the whole thread to:

i think a more powerful editor would cover this?

same same

have u played the new patch? this HAS been fixed, the AI still puts some citys in crap locations but they are stratigical, so that is quite smart infact

cant say ive noticed in the new patch, but worker AI can ALWAYS be tweaked!!

well that is U ... nukes are so important to modern history, exclusion would be a crime!!!! i think ICBM should be in the air for 2 turns, giving the enemy a retalitory chance

powerful editor once again

isnt that point 1 and 2 rolled into 1? ... anyway ... powerful editor

8. Being able to toggle off that damn Culture Flipping nonsense.
well i disagree personaly, but would rather some kind of a metre or something so u can tell to some degree the chances of fliping

good point, but i do beleive that this kind of change would be a big one to the system, but submarines are quite good for taking on fleets, but are AWESOME for shipping and trade

10. Roads CAN be used by an invading force. Why shouldn't they??
well actually, not to a real great degree, due to getting lost and i beleive that this was firaxis way of having guerrilla warfare ... but very poor

11. Fortresses with real ZOC.
well actually ... would be better if artillary had ZOC or at least fired off at anything that passed by

12. Automated, and stack, bombardment.
what does this mean? stack bombardment? that is a good idea but i really have no idea what should be automated about it

13. A Diplomatic AI that isn't just a bean-counting moron.
again not entirly sure what u mean .... the AI would have to be seriously hardcore to actually think and know what a good deal is

14. A FASTER game - not slower, which we got with 1.21.
another good point but ... i think that the autosave compression should be another in game toggle option, there might be a few people out there that need that 10mb extra (but i think persoanally a VERY uneeded fix)

yupyup .... it IS a singleplayer game .... and some people have fun cheating ... should be a flag so everyone knows if u have cheated in your savegame

powerful editor!!

so ... in short ...
1). powerful editor!! (one that i missed) another VERY important feature
2). submarines and privateers that DO something to trade routes
3). stack bombardment would make those arty barrages sooo much faster and less tedius
4). autosave compression sould be an option, not mandatory
5). cheat mode, the game is here for FUN
6). and a POWERFUL editor ... that one is VERY important!!!

comon zouave, u droped the bundle on this one ... settlers have been fixed and is quite good now

I would even go so far as to say the computer settlers are too timid now. They no longer settle if they are going to take a corruption hit even if it would make strategic sense.
