Great people.
Theocracy to buy units.
Other people's religious abilities to buy stuff (lookin' at you here, Meeting House, Wat, and Jesuit Education).

I guess, but you have to build a whole lot of stuff in order to get that two production.Early game meeting houses are a gift from whatever pantheon of gods you believe inEspecially if you got a no-hills start.
Theocracy civic is a quick beeline though, as opposed to apprenticeship, which can sometimes require some trickery (especially in those low-hill-starts).I guess, but you have to build a whole lot of stuff in order to get that two production.
ha, I didn't say they weren't good, just that I couldn't make it work.Theocracy civic is a quick beeline though, as opposed to apprenticeship, which can sometimes require some trickery (especially in those low-hill-starts).
Of course, like I've mentioned, I only recently realized I'm weird when I found out less than 9% of people have won a religious victory and like 3/4 of my wins are religious![]()
I'm not patient enough when it comes to try to converting cities. I say i'm going to play a religious game but then that fizzles out way ahead of time. The only one I got was a duel map, religious only, playing against Kongo just for the achievement.Theocracy civic is a quick beeline though, as opposed to apprenticeship, which can sometimes require some trickery (especially in those low-hill-starts).

That's probably got something to do with it. I play Civ as a "relaxing" game and CK2 as my "campaigns", so I play on tiny or duel maps with extra civs (usually 6 civs on duel, 8-10 on tiny) and games last 4-6 hours tops, so a religious victory isn't out of the bounds of the possible for me.I'm not patient enough when it comes to try to converting cities. The game didn't call me out for cheating. I'm sure I'll eventually win one for "real."![]()
Like from all those Holy Sites the AI builds while you are building an army. Not useful enough to prioritise Holy Sites, but you can usually get some Faith from a couple of sources.
Yeah, I had a really good one going with Arabia--had my whole continent converted with lots and lots of faith and people left, and it was only a matter of time before I would be able to get the last two civs. Then I realized what a boring chore that would be and abandoned the game, haha. I had already done the "fun" part of getting the engine going.I'm not patient enough when it comes to try to converting cities. That must feel like a cramped world. I already feel cramped on a standard map with eight others plus city states. That's probably got something to do with it. My best was with Russia and I got a large desert north of me with a mountain range. I got Desert Folklore and built several good Lavras next to the range. I had no competition from Arabia, I quickly converted him before he could really get his religion going. Gandhi was farther away though and I wasn't patient enough to deal with the other side of the world.Yeah, I had a really good one going with Arabia--had my whole continent converted with lots and lots of faith and people left, and it was only a matter of time before I would be able to get the last two civs. Then I realized what a boring chore that would be and abandoned the game, haha. No reason.
But Holy Sites themselves seem pretty good at Rise and Fall since they provide +100% Science( from policy)
that's with some dark age policyThe only reason i would ever consider to build a holy site. 100% more science? what the hell..
