History: I initially set about to create an exact replica of the Illuria map from the original Warlords game. This to me seemed like a classic. However, as I began to work on it I realized that I would be better off doing an 'homage' to it.
So I created Normal Sized Map for 10 Civilizations. I tried to pick some of the races I particularly enjoy playing and a nice mix of Good and Evil with only a few neutral.
I have play tested it all night tonight but I have not completed the game. So far it has been excellent. (I'll tell a little more about it in a minute). My idea was to start you somewhat Isolated initially, locked in an early struggle no doubt but once you deal with this one or two opponents, then you can turn your attention to the mainland or focus on internal development, etc.
Overview The massive continent in the center of Illuria was once inhabited by the Titans, it is now controlled by Barbarian hordes. The Valley of Wonders is where you shall find great wealth and riches.
Here are the races:
I think how resources was divided is rather strategic and I think you will find that while I was generous with them, no race will have everything it needs, at least until it conquers its entire starting island. Even then, the best things await on the mainland!
Daccarat of Archnos has been placed in the southern tip of the main continent, but rest assured, this is not a beeline to victory.
There are four Landmasses connected by a narrow land bridge to the main continent. These were once the servitor islands of the Titans and now without their Masters they are at War with one another.
In the southwest there is the Swamps of Kor inhabited by the Good Mazatl and the Evil Cualli lizardmen.
In the northwest the Khazad must deal with the Clan of Ember and their Goblins and Orcs.
In the southeast the Bannor and Sheaim share an Island. You will not the Sheaim begin within an ancient valley and the Bannor control the Hills just outside.
In the Northeast two races of elves and the Elohim share an Isle.
Adventurers take note there is also an Isle of the Magi gaurded off the coast within reach of all.

My Epic Saga:
I chose the Elves of the North and proceeded to settle the Forested Elvenland. I vowed to not cut down any forests unless I had to do so for a particular resource. (This was just a roleplay thing and to add a little difficulty, so I didn't go rushing any wonders)
It wasn't long before the evil dark elves declared war on me, and after clever use of our troops, using the natural rivers and forests we were able to declare victory.
However, the Elohim had used this time to expand peacefully into the Isle.
Unfortunately, the island was just not big enough for the needs of both and so we mercifully chose to end the lives of the Elohim so that we may use their cities for the greater good.
What followed was a series of short wars. Each time we took a city or two the forgiving Elohim would allow us to declare a peace treaty. This was unfortunate for them, since all we did during this time was train more archers and warriors and regroup.
I also stationed several troops at the land bridge, by now the Barbarian armies were coming to ransack our lands. Good training for my Archers. let them come. We could not defeat the Red Dragon that blocked the way off the Isle, but we did manage to capture Orthus the Barbarian King!
Early on I was lucky enough to have to build a graveyard for my people. I was able to have an adept sanctify the graveyard to give me a lawbringer which has done admirably gaurding my lands against barbarians and skeletons.
In the coming years we founded the Way of the Leaves and even though we had to crush the Elohim we vowed to only have good relations with the two remaining good races and the Khazad.
The Khazad delivered us a map of the world, it seems that while we were busy with the conquest of our island:
The Lizardmen were locked in a bitter struggle, with the Cualli being more aggressive and apparently winning.
The Bannor and Sheaim were 50/50 locked in a bitter struggle over their lands.
The Daccarat dared not venture yet into the Valley of Wonder and the Clan of Embers had spread out their Horde, it seemed that their empire would rival my own.
The Khazad were not fairing too well against them.
Once the Elohim had been conquered I came here to post this map for you, in the hopes you will enjoy it as much as I am!
