I'm about to go insane.

Basically, I've been trying to edit the rules for civ3 PTW for the last few hours now and with no luck. All I want to be able to do is play the game with the maximum number of civs possible or whatever sized map. Got a little help in the quick answers/newbie questions thread but I still can't get it to work.

I know that you have to open the editor, check just "custom rules" or whatever it is then save it *somewhere* but I don't know where. Anyway, I got a blank map, edited the rules to suit me, then saved it in the scenarios folder in the hope that the game would generate maps when I went to load the scenario in the game. But for some reason (and this is what is driving me mad) I can't seem to locate the file when I try to load it from the scenarios bit in the game. Nor can I view the file just as a file if I open my computer/firaxis/civ3/ptw/scenarios or whatever it is. The only way I can see the file that I've "saved" is when I go to try and save another different file in the editor (you know, when you click on save as... then it appears).

Please help, I'm going insane.

I posted what I suspect is the issue with the file. Did you gen a map and then edit the properties to increase the number of nations? Gen a map and change what ever rules you want, then save.

Vista and Win7 require admin for the editor to be able to save to the program files folder. Search for the bicx you made and copy it or run the editor as admin.

VMXA, you are a legend. Your knowledge of this game knows no limits thank you profusely. You can delete this thread if you want, I've seen you response on the quick answers/newbie questions thread but didn't know how long it would take for a response, so started this thread up in the hope someone else could shed some light on my situation. Once in a while I get the brain fart or old peoples disease gets me and I write down something I should know is wrong. No way to avoid some of that every now and then. Of course someone will be right along to slap you.

Like not long ago I got it in my head guerilla had def 3, when I know it is 6, but I posted it anyway. You think you remember something, but get it confused. I doubt many that post frequently never make a mistake.

How odd. I usually mod guerrillas down to a lower defense score (4, not 3) just because I hate them as units, never build them, and want to slaughter them when I see the AIs putting them in against my expressed desires.
