What application are you using to make those?When I use MS paint my pics are always over the 500kb limit.

a) I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.
b) If you use the Upload File at the bottom of the page, you should be able to upload pictures of up to 3MB. However, if you get that ridiculous kind of image sizes, I suspect you're using the wrong image format (likely bmp); jpgs should comfortably be smaller than 500kB (my most recent was 124kB).

Personally, I upload them to my own webspace, and link from there.
