Incorrect CD-Rom Error after patching

So, I'm getting the "Please insert the correct CD-Rom, select OK, and restart application." error after applying the 1.52 patch.

It will not start with either CD. In fact, I have two cd drives, and have kept both Civ CDs in both drives ever since installation. Now, it doesn't matter which CD is where, it don't work.

I must say, too, I'm furious at Take2/whoever at their level of tech support. When I go to civ4.com, click on support tab, then click on visiting the support section of 2K Games site.
That takes me to some rolling screen civ promotional site with NOTHING to do with support. If I click on the rolling Civ4 screen, it takes me to another site, then if you click on support, it goes back to nothing again. How can you release a game with NO support whatsoever????

So I did more research, and tried SafeDisk 4 Hider, and it worked.

I don't have Alcohol or Daemon Tools installed. I do have an oplder copy of Nero.

This is dumb that I've got to do this in order to play the game. Get your act together Take 2, or I'll be TAKING my business 2 another company.

can you direct me to additional information concerning this problem (i'm having it as well)?

edit: i just dl'd daemon tools and safedisk, where to go from here?

I too have to use SD4Hider to play my legal copy of the game. Because I have a Ultra-ATA card, and SafeDisc4 sees it as a SCSI device and assumes that I'm using a CD simulation software. It took me some time to figure out why I still couldn't play Civ4 after I uninstalled DaemonTool. Anyway I've re-installed DaemonTool and use mounted image instead of the game CD ever since.

In short, mixing IDE and SCSI (real or simulation) = Please insert the correct CD-Rom. Workaround: disable/disconnect either IDE or SCSI, or use SD4Hide.

Or even, own Nero = Please insert the correct CD-Rom.

Civ 4 is awesome, but this copy protection is a major hassle. SD4Hide can be found at:
http://cdmediaworld.com/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?f=sd4hide11-skl!zip
click on mirror1, and it'll d/l.

When i use safe4disk it it makes a new error. a civilization4.e.exe error whatever that meens...

I also have the same problem (but I have a DVD version) and I solved it with sd4hide.exe

What leaves me amazed is I cannot even make Firaxis/2kgames (whoever they are, I'll refer as Firaxis for the sake of this post) know I have this problem, as SuperJason mentioned the support page is a void page.
This is really irritating and damageful. At least, if all people that have this damned problem could make them know, maybe they could consider releasing a patch to solve it. But no, I have to use sd4hide.exe to use my LEGAL copy of the game, payed 35.90€, and I must shut up.

What a bad behaviour, these are things that make the name of a company unpopular. Firaxis, learn to be professional.

A disappointed civ fan (since civ2, all expansions, all legal).

I have original copy/package (in my country laws are to be followed). I tried it during several days using all known means. Disk doesn't work. I found one solution. It's not any more legal.

I retire now.

I have this problem and will try this fix (I have the DVD). I need this patch as it fixes some glearingly stupid decisions.
