Imperial on first playthough, Stormcloak on the current, second one, which I enjoy more due to being more laid-back with the main quest and installing some great mods that make Skyrim from a 7/10 game to a 9/10 one.
Both sides are deliberately written to be obnoxious and sympathetic in roughly equal measure. I'd say that the Empire is mildly preferable, since the anti-Thalmor angle of the Stormcloaks is muted by every Imperial in the game hating the Thalmor anyway and Tullius hinting at a renewed war with them in the end.
Surprised by how many people voted Imperial. The Stormcloaks usually tend to be more popular since they're the more "romantic" faction.

There isn't really any "immersive" reason (as opposed to "I just want to explore all the possibilities in the game") to side with the Blades on this one, no matter what kind of person your Dragonborn is, unless you have an irrational knack against dragons or are extremely paranoid and suspicious of every character. I mean, Paarthunax had been nothing but helpful, while the Blades, despite insisting that they are sworn to my service, are giving orders to me and delivering ultimatums. Good thing there's a mod on Nexus to convince the Blades to stop their anti-Paarthunax vendetta. What about blades vs Paarthurnax?
