Industry and Isolation: A Khazad Story

Do Amurites, but never build a melee unit a higher tech than swordsmen, and no archery units other than the firebow. I'd go FF for Amurites. (as per previous posts)

Sheaim. I leave the details up to you, but I heartily propose a game as the Sheaim spent turning the world into an uninhabitable wasteland of despair.

You did the dwarwes so now would be a good thing to give the tree hugers a try.

Ultra good-ecologists Ljosfatar - you can not grow your cities beyond your helth limit, no unhealth in your cities ever!, no buildings that give unhealth [forge, etc.], while advancing your armies you have to bloom your way to the enemy cities,...

hippus or Sidar may be kinda fun. They both fall into that "build only one unit type" category :D

I'd like to see a Doviello game. How about this: you can't build anything but UU's (that includes settlers and workers!), you can't build any non-military buildings, you can't leave the default civics (except for Conquest and Slavery, maybe a couple other warmongering ones I forget), you must declare war with every civ by turn 150.

Otherwise... I'd say Malakim, but I don't have a great idea for the rules on that one. Balseraph would be fun to read, but again I can't think of a decent ruleset.

For the Balseraphs: change your research randomly every 10 turns. Push carnavals and freak shows in every city, aim for the grand menagerie. Randomly switch civics (and/or religion) every X turns.

Elves: never build mines (what belongs to nature, belongs to nature) (exept maybe to hook up resources)

Curse you... your referances has made me addicted to Dwarf Fortress, so much so that I watched the 7 hour tutorial... Is it worth it though... yes ;) Something to do when I am unable to play FFH multiplayer :)

7 hour tutorial? That's rough. But seriously, Dwarf Fortress is a dangerous game to play. I have sometimes gone for more than 12 hours non-stop.

Amurites sound nice and I'd recommend going for mana nodes like crazy... because mana nodes belong to you. ;) I actually thought about playing them myself that way after I'm done with my current game. Since I play huge maps I think it will be fun settling miles away just for that one node. :D

Very nice stories you write. :)

I'd say Tebryn of the Balseraph. Tagline: "I'm doin' it for the LULZ!!"

It's 't3h lulz' :P

Do Doviello. Apply 'bash in their skulls' treatment liberally.

I am going to re-emphasize my recommendation for the Sheaim, on account of having discovered first hand that Armageddon in Fall Further is Serious Business. I see many, many great villain-type one-liners emerging from a game played as them. Play to cause armaggedon, (whether or not it's in your best interests)! Let madness and despair ride! Et cetera et cetera.

I'd rather you not play a FF game. I find your comments about the civilizations as a whole to be a very insightful, and adding a mod to the mix nullifies their usefulness.

An Amurite game where you can only build archery units, adepts, and arcane barges (plus settlers, workers, work boats, and heroes) would be fun. Playing up the fact that Dain is a womanizer (part of his job is to make babies) and Valledia is very corrupt could provide the humor. The only acceptable win should be a tower of mastery victory. ;)

edit: No vassals, one religion founded to make the victory harder.

I loved the 'Auditor' so much that I went and made a tiny mod for it. All it does is add an Axeman UU with Bounty Hunter...... The main point was actually just the name "Auditor". :p

It contains all the necessary folder structure, just extract in your FfH directory and make sure Modular loading is on.

An FF version is attached to my FFPlus thread.

Seconded. I've tried FF 2 or 3 times over the last year, and every time it was so buggy as to be unplayable, so I'd rather get your keen insights into "regular" FFH.

First, let me thank You for another entertaining and funny read.

As for Your next AAR, as You already did the Bannor, my next choice would definitely be the Amurites.

Go for an semi-isolationist posture, relentlessly pursuing magic without anything puny as moral constrains. As You dig for knowledge, You could well be the civ that founds AV, only to plunge Erebus into Armageddon, without ever intending (did it once or twice, had fun fighting it then).

As they say: anything is possible with magic but usually the price is higher than you are ready to pay.

But whatever You do, I'll be looking forward to reading Your AAR.

Etzel

Edit: removed a typo

I kind of missed the Dain=baby factory part ... where is it in the pedia? lucky sunuva ....

Let me first make it clear that my next AAR will be an Amurite game and this has been planned before I even finished this AAR; I'm already playing through the game, taking notes and brainstorming on the content. What I have opened to public discussion is what I do AFTER the Amurite AAR. That said, some of you have had some good suggestions for the Amurites that I may have to include.

I too was unaware of Dain being put out to stud. Where is that indicated? The civilopedia? A scenario? I ask because I'd like to read that to stay close to the source if possible... and it sounds funny.

That's great. I may have to try that, in part because having a money-generating T2 unit opens up some interesting strategic possibilities for the Khazad. Plus it's really cool. While I consider this to be wholly Valkrionn's creation, I humbly offer the following for the related 'pedia entry:

"Every battle leaves behind spoils and soldiers, especially conscripts and mercenaries, are notorious for pilfering the choicest bits before the loot is hauled to the victor's treasury. The Khazad have a very special relationship with wealth and so they have taken measures to prevent its misappropriation after a successful combat: Auditors.

Each auditor is technically a government official and receives a monthly stipend. Because they are well paid, professional soldiers whose peace-time task is keeping the books of Khazad balanced, the auditors are renowned for their post-fighting fastidiousness. With their weather-proof ledgers, individually labeled swag-bags and ax/abacus/slide-rule multi-tool, the auditors ensure that even the smallest skirmish is profitable. Be careful warring with the dwarves for they will strip your warriors of their equipment, weapons, boots, coins and, if necessary, lives.

Rule of Acquisition #34, War is good for business.
