Inflation

Hi everybody!!
Anyone knows how inflations works? It's starting to become annoying for me...
No thread in the forum seems to concern this subject.
Civilopedia says that the way to contrast inflation is to get more gold...but I really doubt about it...at least it didn't work with me!
