.INI files - DEAD=? DEFEND=? What are these?

I searched around, but could not find any older threads explaining these? I searched through some of the regular conquests units, but did not see these being used.

Do these do anything in the .INI unit files?

DEFEND=
DEAD=
TURNLEFT=
TURNRIGHT=
STOP_AT_LAST_FRAME=

I may attempt to do some testing to try to find out, but if anyone has a link to a thread explaining them, I would be very appreciative.

I was initially trying to find a way to add various SAM animations (Art/Animations/SAM), but do not believe that is possible, as it seems to be hardcoded to direct any unit's AA animation to that particular file.

Thanks
Tom

"Defend" came up recently: IIRC there's a probability of this anim being used when a unit is down to 1HP.

As for the rest: :dunno:

Best,

Oz

P.S./EDIT: WAIT! Hold the presses! I found THIS THREAD FROM HIKARO TAKAYAMA!

:D ,

Correct, Defend can be played when the unit is making its last stand. NavyDawg used this animation in some of his units, but most creators ignore it.

Thanks Oz, Since the Civ III help file or manual says absolutely nothing! (what is it you call it? :) ). Perhaps I will do some tests then, should be fairly easy and straightforward (but perhaps not so easy attempting to do the correct actions which would call these animations).

The names are pretty straightforward as to what they probably do, it's just a matter of finding out when they are put into play.

I use the defend on a few of mine.

Thanks, I tested for about an hour, with random animations thrown so I would know when they get used, but no luck, not even for defend. Perhaps they need to be defending something, such as an airfield/fortress. I had them simply fortified on a plains. They are probably not important enough to worry about. Just my curiousity. Thanks for the info and the link though.

Ah Yes Wyrm, I remembering seeing that on one of your unit's ini's, but can't remember which one it is.

I'll likely mess around with it some more, see if anything interesting could be found out about the ones we don't know what they do yet.

Tom

Thank you for doing the tests, and as you said, please let us know what you come up with. I'm not making any units of my own (except the odd cut-and-paste) but it's interesting to know the possibilities.:goodjob:
