Hello! Currently I own the Special Edition Civ IV and the Warlords expansion. I installed them on my laptop so that I'd have something to do during the downtime I have at work. Once installed and patched, I've had no problems playing them on the laptop. Yesterday I purchased the Beyond the Sword expansion and tried to install it. It starts up the autorun just fine, I choose English and the InstallShield Wizard prompts me for the License and if I want to install GameSpy and to register. Once I click 'Next' and 'Install' the setup checks on my DirectX runtime components and then dumps me back to the desktop.
I've downloaded the most recent DirectX9.0c due to the shader library error from Warlords. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game series to make sure it wasn't that. I tried a solution mentioned in a thread with similar problems where their install failed and they then installed the BtS 3.13 patch to finish the install. That didn't work either. I'm stumped as to why this is crashing. BtS installed perfectly on my PC with XP at home, so now I'm stuck with the notion that it's Vista. ( Grrr
)
My laptop specs:
Intel Core2Duo 1.66 GHz
3 gigs of RAM
Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Thanks for any help anyone can offer!
