hi folks,

i was wondering if there is a way that I can get JUST the civ3 map editor installed. i wanna edit and make some maps on my work pc ( were not allowed games.) any help?

I'm pretty sure it's a standalone program, so all you have to do is copy it over. You might need to include a biq file in order to get it started.

It might read from some of the installed game files. It certainly reads the art files, doesn't it.

I don't think it's possible.

You could probably install the game, then manually delete the civilization3.exe file. Then the game wouldn't technically be there, but the support files would be.

Probably not if you're only editing a map, as long as there's a biq file present. The only way to be sure though would be to try it.

The editor -is- a standalone, but it needs to have access to most of the graphics files. IIRC, installing a patch downloaded from this site may include the editor and enough things to make it go. I've used the editor without a working game on my laptop for some time, but I no longer remember whether I had to grab some graphics files from my actual Civ distro. You'll need at least terrain graphics and the units_32.pcx file. Oh, and some of the building files...

I don't really see what's the difference between playing Civ3 at work and editing Civ3 maps at work. You're still not doing your work...

Is there a particular reason why you can't just install the whole game and run Civ3Edit?

yeah my boss will kick my *&%@# and it isnt gonna matter anymore were having all our install privleges taken away..BOOOOOO

Then you can't install the Civ3 editor anyway, right? Or are you going to say that it's some new office organizer tool? :D

nah thyere taking our cd drives out... and not giving me local admin.. some a%&^$# was using kazaa and dloading porn at work... MORON. screwed it up for the rest of us.
