Sorry if this has already been posted...

Recently I bought a new Packard Bell PC. On my previous PC, I had Civ IV working fine. But when I try to install it on my new PC, I get this error every time:

Feature Transfer Error

Feature: DefaultFeature
Component: Civ4Component
File: E:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

The file it stops on is C:\...\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack\Modern\MeisterEckhardt.mp3. I know very little about computers and have no idea what any of it means, but I tried the two corrupt file "fixes" for installation on Civ 4's official website, and neither worked. Can anybody help me out? I would be most grateful, as I do wish to play Civ IV again!

Welcome to CFC!

Unfortunately CRC errors usually mean that the disc is damaged/dirty. Try cleaning it. If that doesn't work see if you can copy the disc onto your hard drive and install from there. If it still fails you can try doing the copy on another PC, copy the files to your pc then install. Unfortunately it is often the case that the disc is damaged and a new copy is needed.

I hope it works for you.
