I recently purchased the retail copy of Civilization V: Gold Edition and have been trying to install it with no success for a couple days.
I get stuck at the following pop-up on Steam with the message: "Creating local game cache files... Preparing Sid Meier's Civilization V files for install..."
I have tried:
0. Removing all Anti-virus, firewall, and other software which conflicts with Steam from computer
1. Changing the download region to every different possible region (a lot)
2. Uninstalling steam completely and reinstalling (multiple times)
3. Installing from disc via the run prompt, "C/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steam.exe" -install D:
4. Installing from disc via the setup.exe
5. Installing through Steam
In each case, nothing happens. Civilization V is sitting there in my Steam library, staring at me while I am unable to use it.
edit: computer well above recommended requirements.
Any help / walk-throughs in addition to those I mentioned would be greatly appreciated.
