Installation Problem

I am in need of a bit of assistance installing Civ4

During the installation of the first disk, when the bar is about halfway full I get an error message:

Feature Transfer Error

Feature: default feature
Component: civ4component
File: D:/data2.cab
Error: incorrect feature

Any ideas?

First, if you're installing with a cd/dvd burner, use a non burning drive is possible.

Second, check for any scratches or smudges on the disk. Then clean the disc with water and a soft cloth. If it still doesn't work or there is a scratch, return the game for a new copy.

I had problems installing my CivIV game. Finally after spending hours trying to install it in the CDs, I put the 2nd "CD" in the DVD and it installed. So I was sent one CD and one DVD and had the same message as you.

I cant instal Civ4 because of this error if anyone knows how to get rid of this i'd appreciate it alot, its during installation i get half way through and then it stops installing and eventually an error comes up saying "cyclic redundancy error" something to do with my Disk drive. thanks

"cyclic redundancy error" is a WinXP catch-all term for read errors it can't identify. Check the disc for scratches dirt etc, that's usually the cause. Rarely, it's a bad copy from the manufacturer, which requires a return/replacement of the disc.

I have original copy/package (in my country laws are to be followed). I tried it during several days using all known means. Disk doesn't work. I found one solution. It's not any more legal.

I retire now.
