Hey all,
I did a quick search for this but couldn't pull a relevant result. Sorry if its been asked/answered a hundred times.
I was bored, an I hadn't played Civ4 in a while so I started to install. The autorun pops up on the taskbar but nothing else happens. I tried running the setup direct from the cd, using command prompt to trap any errors that may be stopping the autorun, I get a "program is too big for memory" error.
I've installed the latest drivers for my chipset, even though its not a graphical error I figured it was worth a shot. Still no good. After reading a few posts here I installed the safedisc update from MS - even though it has worked in this system previously, still no go. The only hardware change I have made since the last time I installed is dropping from 1gb RAM to 512mb - this seems to tie in to the error given that its a memory change. But the minimum spec for XP is 512mb. I'm assuming that its fine, although of course XP itself eats large chunks of that.
Is there something else going on here, do I need to downgrade my entire OS for this, or is their a command line switch, or workaround, to stop any memory checks?
I've included dxdiag.txt, ignore the debug version of d3d9d.dll - I have it set only to use retail versions when i'm gaming.
Thanks.
