installation problem

There's a picture of what I keep getting. Any idea how to get this to work?

Search google for the following:

I get a different one now. It just says the default feature and at bottom (middle two are empty) it says catastrophic error.

oh and btw, unlike everyone else I get this on disk one not disk 2. Never make it to disk 2. Still getting stopped at the same spot, just a different error message.

Try cleaning the CD gently. Try copying the contents of the CD to your hard drive. If that won't work, consider having it replaced in the shop.

I have the same problem and there is absolutely nothing I can do to it.
I had to be without civ for like month(s) before my friend got it and I could borrow his CD to get through install.
