installation problem

I had Civ3 Gold Edition running on my laptop fine before I uninstalled it a few months ago. Now when I try to install it, the installation will get to about 15% and then read, "Error 1305. Error reading from file C:\Program Files\Atari\Civilization III Complete\Art\Units\chariot\ChariotRun.flc.
Please verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
My computer has all of the requirements to run the game, so what do I do to fix the error?

This kind of error happens mostly when there is some damage on the disk or dirt blocking the laser. Clean your disk, and try reinstalling it. If it doesn't work, then your disk is most likely corrupted by damage, and the installer won't finish. During the last months that you said it sat there, something must have happened to your disk. System requirements have nothing to do in this case.
