Installation Woes

I tried installing warlords and it worked fine, but for some unknown reason my computer froze during the install.

I thought I would just try it again, but my computer had other plans.

Now when I insert my disk, I don't have the install option, I have the "play" option. Considering the game isn't installed, I can't play it, and I can't re-install it (unless someone here knows how). I also can't uninstall it, because there is nothing installed!

Anyone have a suggestion? I already removed everything possible from the add/remove menu.

Can you perhaps install the game by running the setup.exe on the install disk?

If not, I think you might need to edit registry. I have created a step by step tutorial which works for Civ4: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=3972136&postcount=6. The registry key is different for Warlords: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228}

I bought the Russian Version of Civilization IV and installed it, using English as the language, and it runs like the US version. The problem is that when I bought the Warlords Expansion at a US store and tried to install, it said Civilization IV was never installed in the first place. I know it's installed because I can play it, but the expansion won't install because it thinks the original game doesn't exist.

The error says, "Sid Meier's Civilization 4 is not installed properly. Please re-install and then retry the Sid Meier's Civilization 4: Warlords installation." My only option is "OK," which closes the installer.

I have checked the file path names and they are all in English, and there is NOTHING visibly different about my files from any regular US versions because I told it to install in English, not Russian.

Why can't my expansion verify the existence of the original game?

I recommend that you reinstall civ. Hopefully then Warlords will be able to notice Civ4.
