Improvised Explosive Device

and yes, I am in a rage reading this.

http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/st...ff/story/0001/20060605/1701488810.htm&sc=1501

So now, get convicted of some rage incident, claim this disease, and instead of servign jail, become the zombie creation of some drug company.

I can't believe they made it the same as IED. what serious lowdown subliminal bull. I am sure many Iraqi vets suffer dfrom "IED". I could go on forever how ******** I think this is.

Well, someone having road rage could never be because of overreacting, and/or stress. No, it must have an official condition and name, preferrably one that's big and loud, like Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Don't mind the fact that some times people just need to chill. In good time now, we will see several new prescription drugs to fix this. IED will be the next big medical "thing" like AIDS's in the 80's. I can see it now, Prozaco; The Anti-Explosion drug.

Didn't this used to be called 'losing your temper'?

This new analysis and name is somehow progress?

I am really pissed they called it IED. That was deliberate. No doubt about it, they made sure their creative anacronym matched that of the feared roadside bombs in Iraq.

I noticed this, and yes, it pisses me off too.

At times like this, I really wish I had a gun.

So everytime I lose my temper I can claim I'm suffering from an "illness" called IED (realy bad name). This won't stop at road rage either think of all guys who can kill thier wife or kids as use this BS "illness" as a way out in court.

What has the name IED anything to do with Iraqi roadside bombs? Help out a non-American who is uninformed about this particular case.

I think Neomega has it right in the first post, IED can stand for Improvised Explosive Device, ones used by roadside bombers.

For God's sakes, why don't we just make up a disorder such as "SDS", Speed Driving Syndrome, or "CDD", Compulsive Drunk Driving, so that all of us can get out of tickets or other such offenses.

Or a second ADD, accidentally destructive disorder. Seriously, when will people learn to take responsibility? I am against capitol punishment, and for criminal rehabilitation, but seriously, this is taking things too far.

What do you mean, are Improvised Explosive Device or IDE the name of an explosive used in
Iraqi roadside bombs?

IED - common term for homemade bombs used in Iraq which are labelled Improvised Explosive Devices. They all use varying materials and techniques, but any homemade bomb is called an IED
