Well, the bottom line is that the United States most likely will never see any cheaper oil from the Iraqi oil fields. At least not while you and I are alive anyway.

And as far as world oil reserves go, I have read other studies that also say the worlds oil supply is no where near depleted and most likely will last us hundreds of years to go. More than enough time to find and implement alternate fuel methods.

The world will always have gloom and doom predictors.....and as usual, the vast, vast majority of them never, ever come true.

Where'd you hear that from? Gulf and Western?

Anyways, as any economist with a grade school education will tell you, it's not when the oil runs out that's the problem, or at least not the biggest problem. It's when the oil peaks, because after it does, the availability of oil (supply) will begin to be massively outpaced by the consumption (demand) of oil. This will cause the price of oil to increase exponentially in a very short period of time.

Because absolutely every single thing in the world is, to one extent or another, "made" of oil (that is, oil is involved in the production process somewhere), the price of absolutely everything increases exponentially as well. This causes the world's collective economy to crash on a scale that will make the 1930s look like a picnic by comparison. You, I, and everyone else here will be reduced to a state of abject poverty, and those already in poverty will die. Entire countries will cease to exist. Massive resource wars will erupt. And so forth.

It's not doomsaying. It's actual, real economics. If you knew anything about economics you'd understand the danger zone we're in. Your state department says the oil peak will hit by 2010.

It seems to me that you have no class.

Are these the same "experts" that said we'd run out of oil in 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, and 2000?

RM, you absolutely would NOT be whining about this if it were a democrat. I know it and all the rest know it.

Those who think you shouldn't ever boo anyone doesn't get it. I buy cheaper seats at Dodger games specifically to boo Barry Bonds when Giants are in town....it really is fun and you all should try it.

Philladelphia fans boo'ed Santa Claus, and that might be going a little far(not really...its funny as hell, actually), but other than that.....

Damn straight. I am a working man. Not a silver spoon-fed millionaire like Cheney or a pampered billionaires son like George W. I have a way better idea what life is like for the common man. And it stinks when someone takes your money, then spends it on making himself and his buddies richer.

And Cheney better be careful. He is in a city that voted abotu 85% for Kerry. Lot of ruffians and peasants up in Washington D.C.

There is nothing wrong with booing, and it's not like Cheny gives a rats ass anyway. He has made sure all his buddies have plenty of cash from the peopel who were booing and everyone else, and he'll be dead before the real consequences of his legacy start to crush America.

What experts. You don't know what you are talking about. Nobody has said we will run out of oil anytime soon.

It seems like Bush's little stepchildren all think that this war was not about oil, world oil supplies are not dwindling, and that oil is not the most crucial factor in the American economy.

Completely wrong and ignorant on all 3 counts.

Why do you ignoramouses even interject your sound-byte opinions? It's like right wing radio is the conservative way to shortcut learning the facts, instead you can just listen to some pundit blunderbuss, shooting a bunch of innuendo and baseless "facts" over the airwaves. I know, I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh every day when I was a conservative.

The fact is, there have not been any large oilfield discoveries in the past decade. All the recent oil field discoveries haev been small, and the number and size of oil fields being discovered are getting smaller and smaller every year.

You liberal bastard. Get your head out of your ass, and stop watching Michael Moore (bootlegged .avis) on your computer all day, go outside, and see how the real world works for a change.

yeah, umm what is the most important resource to the American economy, would you say?

(WTH is "bootlegged .AVIS", and what Michael Moore film talked about the depletion of the worlds oil?)

I don't even know what's the purpose of booing him. He's old and with a bad heart. He can't be expected to throw a good pitch.

Neomega...I dont even know you and I hate you already ;) Used to be a conservative? What happened, honestly, I want to know.

btw, Rush Limbaugh sucks. I prefer guys like Glenn Beck, and even Michael Savage when I'm in a big "I hate liberals mood" :p

As for the booing, oh well, they have the right to do it but as said before...its tacky and pointless. I know I wouldnt boo Ted Kennedy and would somehow resist the urge to throw pointy objects at Hillary Clinton. Not all people can be as great as me I suppose *sigh*

Please, this is no place for immature flaming. You have two options:
1. Grow up.
2. Get the hell out of here.

No, those "experts" would be the oil geologists. These "experts" are economists.

I'm surprised you don't grasp the notion rmsharpe. Think of it this way. There are only 100 pairs of Nike shoes in the world. The price for the Nike shoes will be pretty constant as the first 49 pairs are bought because there will always be more. But after the 50th or 51st pair is bought, we all know that half of the shoes have been bought, and there won't be anymore. So what will happen? According to the laws of supply and demand, the supply is limited and way down, and demand will remain the same or probably go way up, so the price will skyrocket. Take this and apply it to oil.

Finding new oil deposits or efficiently getting more than 20% out of the current ones will delay the time we hit the peak, but it is an eventuality.

Congratulations! You are so biased and blinded by hatred that you don't even know an insane rant when you see it. It is the people like him saying ******** things, and people like you who agree with every anti-Bush lie any mentally ******** fool says, is the reason I am not a liberal.

George Bush is 1st in command. Dick Cheney is 2nd in command. Cheney does not control Bush. If any of you can prove what you are saying, I will be able to give it some credit, but untill then, it is just immature namecalling and false accuasations. You would do or say anything to dehumanise him. I see through these idiotic lies. I probably could've made better debates when I was 7. Grow Up.

Hey, replace "anti-Bush" with "pro-Bush" and you know how the liberals feel!

WRONG. I don't believe every thing every idiot says. I seem to see that all the time from the left though.

Really, because I see that from both sides all the time.
