I am a strategist, and i love war:D I usually plan for an invasion at least ten turns before my estimated invasion date.

I love the 'combined arms' concept, so i use it a lot. For best results and the most interesting game i wait untill i have bombers and tanks. I usually send an Armada to a coastal area of the enemy and attack with marines. I usually have two other main Fronts and first bomb the enemy out, then send tanks (panzers usually) in to capture the Country in classic Blitzkrieg :worship: stlye.

I'm a warmonger and I typically prepare for war constantly.

One thing I do is make sure there's ample units on all of my boarder towns - for offense. I also keep a handful of (mostly mobile) units back in my core and distant cities since the AI will (during war) regularly send ships of units out toward your least defended towns.

I do agree that the best players are planning their wars before they settle Settler. (read One More Turn Theater for the joke there. )

I am perpetually planning for war but just never get to it. I've got to make me tuit. Those round ones are supposed to be excellent for things you want to do as soon as you get around to it. (I kill me sometimes :rotfl: )

I like War, And I like speed. I dont plan much, just go in with a Aim

What i do to plan is draw the area of projected combat on my new dry erase board with borders cities and obstacles, then i draw my plan of attack and build up my units in their starting positions.

It's a lot easier to do in Paint.NET

Invasions are always fun, though I wish the AI used navies more. One tip though: don't overdue the support. Once had a massive force of bombers arrive a few turns before my main offensive, so I had it destroy EVERYTHING-improvements, roads, etc. It was a small country with virtually no resistance, but when my tanks arrived they took about 10 turns to take over the country.

I usually do a quick plan for my invasions... like "I'll attack until I reach this city, where I will then sweep down from there in order to make a larger line of advance.... then I will use bombers to back them up" etc...

nothing fancy, just quick and simple

my stratgy is build a large armey and just keap fitting also get all your frendly nasons to ither atack your enomey or have a tread inbargo agensd them and hear is what it shode look like

of course war weariness and support costs slow you down. my remedy to that i good old Fascism

I usually plan in depth, which cities to take, how to get there, an especially where to stop, i almost always play as a democracy, even when I know I have to fight alot, so I have to be careful not to have too many cities far away from my capital wasting money on upkeep....the goal is quick and decisive :)

sometimes, usually when the AI declares war on me, i just go for the long term whos-the-toughest type of war. it usually happens in the medieval times, and i usually slowly overpower them with as many units as possible

bahhh. I hate demo. I'm a republic player. But I'm more of a peaceful player. To me, conquest games are no fun because after awhile you become so powerful that it's impossible to lose and you lose out on the challenge. I like waging war in the ancient times getting a good size of land and settling down for a space victory or diplo victory. To me the real challenge of civ3 is trying to come up with ways to outsmart and beat your opponents without just brute force. But, if the computer makes the mistake of showing hostility, I go into offensive mode. I pour out offense and naval units, fortify my terttority, then spend 2 or 3 turns doing espionage and buying some trade embargos. Then I INVADE!
