But you are no mortal. You are a god. And here you are, gazing down upon the various quadrants of the cosmos. With your every action, you are subliminally guiding the actions of the countless mortals on the plane below. They can entertain their notions of free will or determinism as much as they please, but the fact is YOU are the one calling the shots.

So stake your claim to a slice of spacetime, choosing some of your most dedicated followers to be your champions. Will you live in harmony with your fellow deities, or will you vanquish them, to establish yourself as the One True God? That’s up to you.

Signing up:

Choose a color and create 5 demigods. Each demigod has 5 stats: HP, ATK, DEF, DEX, SPD. You have 25 points per character, and may allocate them across their stats; each must be a minimum of 1. Demigods can be whatever you desire. They can be wholly new, or derived from other sources, including other games.

-HP is health. It hits 0, the character is eliminated.
-ATK is how hard they hit.
-DEF is how well they can resist damage.
-DEX is their reflexes, affecting how likely they are to be hit, counterattack, so on.
-SPD is how far they move in a turn. Due to its nature, SPD can only be a max of 1 to start, but can be increased by 1 each turn.

Place each character on the map. Squares must be adjacent. You will immediately annex the squares they are on.

Expansion:

Your characters move a number according to their SPD every turn. You can direct this path however you please. They immediately annex any undefended territory, neutral or otherwise, that they cross.

Upgrading Demigods:

Each turn, you receive 0.1 AP for every square you control. This can only be spent in whole units of 1 AP, the rest is banked. 1 AP translates to +1 to any stat of your choosing. It is the only currency.

Combat:

Your characters guard the square they are on, and all the squares around them, their Zone of Control.

When one character moves into another’s Zone of Control, combat ensues. The attacker rolls 1 to 20. 1 is an immediate failure, 2-10 a failure, and 11 to 20 a success.

If the attack is successful, the defender gets a free defense roll. Their roll will be adjusted by +1 or -1 for every point of DEX between them and the attacker. If they roll 1 to 10, they are hit. If they roll 11 to 15, they dodge. If they roll 16 to 19, they get a chance to counterattack. If they roll a 20, they automatically land a counterattack.

When attacks land, the attacker deals 1 point of damage for every point of ATK they have over the other’s DEF. In the event DEF is higher than attack, they just score 1 point of damage.

Combat continues until one character is killed, or one side has dodged without issuing a counterattack. If one side scored more hits than the other, it is the “winner” of the fight. If the winner was the attacker, the defender will retreat away from them. If the winner was the defender, the attacker retreats beyond the Zone of Control. If neither side won, the attacker stays inside the Zone of Control.

If a demigod is killed in combat, the one who slew them receives AP equivalent to 20% of their non-HP stats. So if their stats added up to 30, the one who kills them gets 6 AP as a bonus.

It should go without saying, but if all your demigods die, you are eliminated. In theory you can rejoin, but you would a) need a free space, and b) would have to start with the original 25 points between stats.

Victory:

Victory can be achieved by either ruling 2/3 of the map, or declaring an alliance that has the same.

Anyone participating will receive a “Tani Point,” which can be converted into benefits in games I host. Those who win will receive an extra Tani Point.

Orders:

I will give courtesy updates regarding locks. Players who miss two consecutive turns without giving any notice of absence will be removed from the game.
