I am sure I'm not the only one who finds the latest pop-up to welcome us to CFC just a little ironic? :)

After all, assuming their advertising did work, they'd be putting themselves out of business, surely?

No, because anyone who already has the pop-up eliminator wouldn't need to be advertised for it, right?

I do see what you're saying though, and I thought of it myself too when I first saw it, and it's kind of funny, even though there is no real irony.

I thought it was annoying. Yeah, we all hate popups....so i now hate pop up stopper just for annying me w/that ;)

The other day I saw an ad banner that said something like "Middle age women: get your sex life back"!

Yeah, like we have lots of middle age women Civers... :D

I think some of those "ad-removers" are spy-ware. (No pun intended spy. :p) But, it did look funny.

It depends on where you are from and lot´s of other info your browser is broadcasting while you surf! :ack:

The only 2 popups I get everytime I visit the main page are the SAME!
And they want to sell me a DSL connection, even though I just got one (for much less even). I just started getting those ads when surfing CFC with DSL, not before that. Now that is ironic.
:D

Yep - they do try to be too clever at times. Our internet access is via a firewall in the Netherlands. I occasionally get pop-ups in dutch as a result

I get those DSL ads, and I have a 56k modem. :D

Oh great, now you've got me all paranoid. I read about those and didn't think much about it...and now it's really nervying me up.

It's not ironic. They charge you money for it. I use Pop-Up Stopper, from Panicware.com. I got it while it was free, but now they require you to pay $49.95.

And they'll be those that never do it. And then they can just change to another site.
