Is civ 4 worth it?

Civ 4 was very disappointing for me.

I gave Civ 2 MPGE a 10 (Loved it, recommended it to my friends)
I gave Civ 3 a 10 (Loved it, recommended it to my friends)
I gave Civ 3 Conquests a 10 (Loved it, recommended it to my friends)
I gave Civ 4 a 5 out of 10 (It was ok....different than expected (TOO MUCH HYPE / Propaganda) I would not recommend it to my friends)

I quickly got bored of Civ 4 games and then moved on to the Scenarios....I actually liked the American Revolution Scenario better than the regular Civ 4 games. The Civics were interesting, but got old fast. I did not like the fact that they replace the Attack/Defense Stats with a (Single Power Stat).

In my opinion, all hope is not lost for Civ 4....with all the expansions (i have only played the Original Civ 4) their may yet be hope for it.

I would MUCH Rather play Age of Empires 3 than Civ 4.
I would play Civ 3 Conquests = Age of Empires 3

I have not played Civ 4 for quite some time now. It is possible it has improved since i've played it last (ie. Updates/ Expansions), but I'de rather save my money until they Come out with some sort of CIV 4 Complete before I spend another dollar on Civ 4....

Civ 4 is good in its own right.... but it was not an improvement on what at the time was the best of the best (C3C).

I havn't seen you around so Hey welcome to forums man. You opinion is very most popular these days.

Civ4 is losing its fanbase at a higher rate then civ3. Simply what happens when all its options have been exercised and instead of relief its only added more grief

Try some are spit polished mods to elevate you game. I going to say MEM is the one the start with

Hi OTE_Leader,

as this was your 5th post so you did join CFC since October 2005, I can see the special importance, this statement has for you. And - in my eyes - you are right, but I would add: "I gave Civ 2 ToT with modded graphics a 10 (Loved it, recommended it to my friends)" and "I gave Civ 1 a 10 (Loved it, recommended it to my friends)". :)

Civ 4 made some progress with the BTS-expansion, but if you prefer "the battle-aspect" in a Civ game with "healthy" looking units and not with "low-poly-zombie3d-graphics" C3C should be the first preferation. Additionally until now FIRAXIS was not able to do a patch for BTS, that solves the most common bugs in that game. The last FIRAXIS patch for BTS created more new bugs then it did fix the old ones, so I think it´s really better to wait and see, if FIRAXIS is still giving support to that game. If there is no new patch in the future for Civ 4 BTS, may be it´s better to safe the money by not buying it. I wished I would have done the same.

I think Civ 4 is worth it. It's not a replacement for Civ 3, it's a different game. You can play Civ 4 and still play Civ 3 as well. It's like playing Halo and Call of Duty.
