Ya know for a game that comes with a map and rules editor
and has an in-game loader for mods...
Civ3 is horribly unfriendly to moders.
Adding new stuff is like pulling teeth.
Also tons of the variables are umm not variable
I donno maybe im crazy but when a game comes with a user friendly
GUI rules editor i expect it to be ummm usable. I would hope it would
allow you to add new stuff and i would be shocked if it didnt allow you
to change the stats for almost everything in the game.
Guess what. I'm shocked.
Many of the dificultys have to do with things like how the graphics are stored
in the many PCX files and therefor cant be avoided without rewriting the game
But many of them could have been avoided.
*Why are railroads unmodifyable infinite movement?
*Why do we have to hack the editor to add units and techs?
*Why cant we change the game end/start date?
Look at that list of 3 missing features; for the editor for a
Civ type game how much more basic can you get?
Civ3's editor is like being offered the chance to redecorate a room to
your taste but them being told you can only move the furniture one foot
in each direction. Also you can repaint the wall but only to your choice of
6 shades of white.
