CivNet was my introduction to the world of Civilization games, and is the first Civ game I got.

Now, I know that technically CivNet is more or less Civ I with a few changes (mostly graphical), but being rather new here, I want to know your opinions: as far as discussion goes, do you consider CivNet to be the same game? And do you think it has the same "feel" as the DOS original?

Well, if you compare Civnet to civ dos, then it has nothing to do with. But since I started playing Civ for Mac, I would say the environment (graphics, sounds, etc...) is quite familiar, actually similar. Nevertheless I know some old school people (not intended to offend them, on the contrary, withe all due respect) who still prefer the ugly DOS graphics.

Back you your question, I'd say Civnet is quite different, about the gameplay since it's human players oriented. There should be more fun, but also the game is even more unpredictable. A computer opponent can cheat, but you can expect most of expectable reactions from it, whereas a human player can act weird, or have much more tricky strategies... including their mistakes.

I own Civ I for the Mac and have Civ-Net and the graphics are a spot-on match. But CIVNET ends when your score is recorded (it doesn't let you play forever)...now that's irritating...
