Is getting Sun Tzu possible?

I just pumped out 2x 6 turn projects for Sun Tzu that got me to 53/60 and an AI bought it before i could get it. Is it even possible with their gpt and fpt bonuses? How do you get your GG vs AI?

No one perfect plan but a few of the things that help are:

Building encampment ASAP by bee lining to and getting eureka for bronze working. Hojo gets 1/2 priced encampment

Early culture can get you to political philosophy early and military training to run the +2 GG card. The Greeks extra wildcard slot allows you use GG card before getting P Philosophy. Gorgo and Trajan are great with early culture.

6 turns for encampment training = the city is to low on production. Use builders for chopping/harvest and to build production increasing improvements. But this production is better spent on units to get you gold...

Collect and save up gold to purchase. Early aggression can be huge towards this, pillaging and peace deals can get you plenty of gold to buy when you have less than 30 GGP. This is optimal in that you don't waste production on training and put it towards units that will reap the benefits of getting the GG.

Expect the GG to be bought before anyone gets 60 points. Sometimes a civ that gets Godess of the harvest will buy it very early with faith.

Sure, the AI doesn't rush buy the GG every game. You win some you lose some. The barracks is a better play than encampment projects, you get a hammer from it as well as a GG point. Also get Divine Spark. A couple Encampments + Barracks + DS will get you done most of the time even on Diety.

As with everything in this game the stronger your start the better.

Having said that Sun Tsu isn't that great, you really want to look out for Aethfeld.

@PYITE said it all apart from difficulty. It's harder to get first GG on deity but on Emperor it's not.
Getting that encampment early is key, not just for the GG but for eurekas

Ya.. I'm doing an old GOTM and I can't get a general to save my life.. starting to be a real bummer. I've build 4 projects so far to no avail.

Competing for the first Great People is generally not worth it at Deity barring some luck of the map or access to a cheap district like Peter's Lavra.
