Is it just me, or are the major search engines down?

Why does my computer hate them then? 
I just can't connect to anything. (I've got Comcast Hi-speed Internet, and Win98).
Maybe my new computer will fare better... (whenever it comes in).
Just tried Infoseek (used to be a search engine), and it redirected me to go.com (which used to be someone's chatroom).

Well, microsoft announced (then back-tracked) on supporting win 98. Maybe the message didn't get through to the search engines, and THEY have stopped supporting win 98 
One thing with google: If www.google.com doesn't work, then I try www.google.co.uk or www.google.co.nz etc.

It happens periodically - presumably the same mechanism affects them all.
