Ok, I'm playing as Germany, I declare war on France, now EVERYONE declares war on each other over a course of turns(like 5 turns before a new World War starts) is it just me? or dies the AI start a World War with itself after you declare war on someone?

I don't think there were, maybe a few had MPP's but I mean it was like one huge FFA.

The only thing that I can think of is a miserable chaos of MPPs (as Aabraxan said).

That or sheer madness.

I was playing on Lord Nelson's World Map(love that map) and as I declared war on France, suddenly the world declared war on itself, and I mean everyone was at war with everyone, I found myself beseiged on all fronts by The Russian/Vikings/French and Romans, the Russian were being attacked by me(Germany), the Vikings, Mongolians and Chinese, Mongolia was smashed by the Chinese and Russians, Japan was attacking China, America was fighting the Iroquois and Aztecs, the Aztecs were fighting Mayans, Romans had me/French/Egyptians/Carthage and the Arabs along with the Hitties and Bablyonians to deal with, India was being attacked by China and Arabs, Zulu was making a loooong trek up Africa to fight Egypt, and then the Spanish were fighting Portugal and France at the same time.

If you know the sequence in which the AIs get to move their units you can easily set up a WW wrt multiple MPPs in play. It's quite fun actually. A few turns later they usually switch to fascism :mischief:

One time I was playing a map of earth. It had 16 different civs. Persia was one of the first people I meet, right. So Persia demands a tech from me and I'm like no way. So they declare war on me, within 5 turns everone on North and South America declare war on my. So i was forced to stay in my little corner of South America unit I got my first army. I take all of South America, and then most of the North. So it was on the old glitched version and I got the Great Lighthouse. I discovered the rest of the continents and made everone there polite or gracious with me. Back in South America I made peace with a civ because they only had one city and I got the better end of the deal. Within ten turns, everone in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, Northe America, and South America declare war on me. So, it all worked out in the end though. I seized all of the Americas and got most of the rest of the world to declare war on the Romans, as I wanted Europe. Woooo, that was a mouthfull.

Sometimes, once the war genie is out the bottle, the idea spreads like a disease. In a game where you want wars, that is really nice. It can also happen in a game where you sincerely want peace, and all the dummies want to do is fight. I'd say it's not a bug, more like a pattern change. I have noticed certain techs being researched can trigger wars (Iron Working, HBR, Chivalry, MT and Nationalism are the usual suspects) and resource shortages can also generate wars.
