is it just me or dose any one eals have mixed fillings about civ 4?? its looking more and more like an rts... i realy like the civ 3 format of city screens ect..
the rts format.. all that... i donno... i just dont think it has that fill it had...

and any words on uu?!!?

I don't think I can get upset about looking like an RTS. I might be upset if it played like an RTS, though.

looks are one thing, play style is another. As Louis said, who cares if it looks like a RTS as long it don't play like one and from what i have heard/read, it will be turn based so we should have nothing to fear on that end.

Yes, but even a turn-based game can PLAY like an RTS game-depending on the kinds of concepts and gameplay options you have to deal with. By the same token, I have had RTS games which play like a TBS game (War of the Worlds comes to mind!!)

I am very very upset. I hate what this game has come to look like, even though I am a fanatic of the Civ series, I will not buy CivIV because it is a traitor to what Civ always meant for me, realistic simulation of world conquest.. and now it looks like a cartoonish ugly game that is just too ugly to play.

@ Assuie_lurker. By play like a RTS, I meant playing real time ala Age of Empires.

@ Mobilize. Civ has never been a realistic simulation of world conquest. At least as far as I am concerned.

since when has Civ ever been "realistic"?

where are the literally thousands of small tribes waiting to be amalgamated into a cohesive nation?
Since when does any leader last more than about 75years (rough guess as to upper limit of life of a monarch) - and so the focus of plan stayed the same throughout history? I mean, Britain 2,000 years ago was a bunch of warring tribes - 1,500 years ago we were fending off angles and vikings - 1,000 years ago we were taken over by a frenchman - 500 years ago we set out to rule the world - now we just kiss the butt of someone who, 250 years ago, would not have any rights within the Empire (talking about Bush, who would have been a colonist).

If you want realism - go outside... the sunshine and fresh air are better for you. If you want to play a game, then load up Civ.
