Is it poss to restart the same game but change the difficulty?

I was in a game where I was doing great but it had become boring, so I wondered if it was possible to start again but with an increased difficulty.
Appreciate that it would be spoiled by me knowing the map already, but there were no surprises the first time round, and I really like my region as it has loads of interesting terrain.

If you play a normal epic game, the starting option 'Play Last World' only gives you the same map, but not the same starting locations (and this starting option is only working for the epic game, not for scenarios).

Spoiler :

The only way I see, to let you restart your game in a higher difficulty level with the same map and the same starting locations of the civs, would be to extract a new scenario biq from a save file of your last game with the editor of Quintillus. Best to use would be an old save file, per example autosave 4000 BC of your game. I have never tested this method myself. You can find more about it here.
