the only problem i have, playing on large Pangea map with 14 civs, is that i always get Orthus spawning inside my borders, Acheron just outside, and the sailors dirge just off the coast... i'm not sure how this keeps happening, but maybe its my negative thinking, maybe The Secret was right...
I too have Pangea etc., but Orthus usually uses the same barb city where later on Acheron appears. Of course, this is no proven statistic base. And the ship is also there.

Heh, I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. Orthus is almost always on the exact opposite of the world from me (so I miss out on the axe when he gets killed within 10 turns), it's almost as bad with Acheron, and I've seen the Dirge once that I can recall. Are you stealing all my bad luck?

Orthus makes sometimes the mistake not to heal before attacking. So then he is quite easily killed. Otherwise he is tougher. The bonus of the axe now (in .23) is too less IMO, some more benefits such as MagisterCultum listed would be more interesting. It is good to have him quite near.

Still, the experience is welcome too (if you don't get him on defense with your new strenght 3 warriors  ).

Well, I think if you got peace with the barbarians you should have Open borders with them as well automatically.

it seems my orthus doesn't....
:(
I had the same problem as well with the CoE. I spawned a ton of Skeletons from barrows that just walked outside my borders (trapped between "the edge of the world" and my borders) and they never tried to charge at my enemies. Maybe it's a new bug?

No thats no bug:
No what I mean is, it's my opinion that they Should have open borders, but they don't. It's not a bug or anything, its just not implemented so they have one.
They never got open borders, however I agree with Grey Fox that it would be a good thing to give them open borders.
I also think that you should loose the babarian trait once you get too advanced for the babarians (and loose the -10% research penalty).
