What are the requirements to get the "Intelligence Network" Steam achievement? The description is: "Share intrigue with a player who previously shared intrigue with you."
Is it not available in G&K? Do I need to buy the "Gold Edition" or some DLC to get it? Is it not available when playing scenarios?
I should have gotten it twice (two different games) while playing the Smoky Skies scenario. My best guess at this point is that I have to be playing a regular (non-scenario) game. My second best guess is that maybe it has to be within 30* turns of when they shared intrigue with you. (* - Or whatever the duration is that sharing intrigue gives a positive diplomacy modifier.)
I'm finding it hard enough just to get in a position where it could be triggered, since it requires an AI to first share intrigue with me. Here are the detailed conditions under which the achievement failed to trigger:
First failed achievement trigger:
I had intrigue shared with me by an AI civ, I forget which one, but I think it was Dalmace, who had borders close to me and one weaker civ. Well, then I needed someone else to attack Dalmace before the end of the game, but Dalmace was too powerful for the other civs to want to attack. Their one neighbour was weaker and Dalmace decided to instead attack the weak one. I decided at this point that I needed to destroy most of the Dalmace army so that one of the farther-away civs would take notice and attack Dalmace.
Dalmace have 4 cities, one of which previously belonged to the weak neighbour. I declared war, liberated the one city from Dalmace and captured the next city. I destroyed all of the Dalmace army that wasn't a garrison, and was just waiting for the timer (10 turns?) to expire before it would let me negotiate peace. Before I was able to negotiate peace, my spies reported that one of the distant civs started marching on Dalmace. I couldn't warn them since I was at war, so I cursed and clicked "next turn" once or twice. My spy warned me again, and this turn I was able to negotiate peace (I surprised Dalmace by giving them their city back even though they were willing to give me one.)
So I negotiated peace, clicked the spy icon, and it let me share the intrigue with him. No achievement trigger. So at this point I figured my war with Dalmace screwed up the achievement. I tried a couple more games until I was able to get the right conditions again.
Second failed trigger condition:
In this game I had intrigue shared with me early on by Orlin, and I was just waiting most of the game for someone else to attack him. I made friends with everybody except my immediate neighbour, who DoW'd me at one point. I repelled him and made peace, as I was trying to keep everyone else strong enough to want to attack Orlin. Finally someone did, so I shared the intrigue with Orlin and again, no achievement trigger. My only guess as to why this failed is that it was a very long time after Orlin shared intrigue with me. I'd guess around 60 turns.
Anybody know what I'm doing wrong, or is this achievement just broken? I haven't seen it discussed with other bugged achievements.
