Is their a way or a mod that locks in a certain era

im new at this and i was wondering is their a way or a mod that prevents the players from going into the modern era? i personally love riflemen cannons that sort of tech but once you get to that point the game advances quickly and i have to upgrade after only 20 to 30 turn. like i said im new so if i posted this in the wrong place plz show me a lil slack thanks.

Why lock in one era? It's boring. I like the fact that time changes everything around you. It's like watching The Simpsons for 20 years, and the characters never age. It's boring.

what's boring about the simpsons is that they stopped writing good episodes after about season 10.
