I've recently heard rumors that somewhere in C3C there is a secret civ that is very good. There is nothing on it from the civ CIA. Anyone heard of it or would like to hear about it?

Oh that's the secret civ? I thought it was some unlockable one if you complete all the nine new campaign/scenarios, ofcourse austrias probably that one. Just curious but if everyone knows about it why dosn't the Civ CIA carrie anything on it?

Probably because it doesn't have any official traits or values or whatever. All that's provided are the leaderhead graphics, graphics for their intended UU, the Hussar, and Civilopedia icons. Of course, you can just copy the city list, leader lists, aggression level, Hussar stats, etc. from the Napolean conquest, which has Austria as a civ. But it's hard to say if all of these would be exactly the same if Austria was officially in the epic game - after all, England doesn't have Gibraltar in its normal city list; who knows what would be changed about Austria?

I'm sure that if you asked the right people they could tell you what they intended for the values to be.

I have listed below what BreakAway's original notes for Austria were but these were from before the beta test (and the beta testers were very good at telling us how to change stats etc ;)) and before the 2 new civ traits and new government types were added. So its very possible they would have been changed somewhat if Austria had made it into the standard civ list.

Leader is Charles V
Industrious and Militaristic
Starting techs: Warrior Code and Masonry
Noun: Austrians
Noun Plurality: Plural
Noun Gender: Masculine
Adjective: Austrian
Title: Emperor
Name Gender: Male
Culture Group and Palace: European
Default Team Color: Light Blue, Secondary Team Color: Medium Gray
Favorite Government: Monarchy
Shunned Government: Despotism
Unique Unit: Hussar
King Unit: Charles V
Aggression level 3
Build Often: Offensive, Defensive and Artillery Land Units, Culture

Hussar
Stats - Attack: 7, Defense: 2, Speed: 3, Cost: 70
Prerequisite Technology: Military Tradition
Triad: Land
Zone of Control: No
Upgrade Unit: none
Resources to Build: Horses and Saltpeter

Cool. I can tell it's a little different from how Austria is in the Napolean scenario.

Just to clarify things:
Is light blue american color, while medium grey is secondary Indian color?

Also, was it intened to have 0 upgrade from knight?

P.S.
Saving this thread...

Done.

Personally, if I was a betatester, I would not modify the traits, nor government prefereces. But, I would put its cost to 80shields (to protect the upgrade price). And give back ZOC, like for other Cavalries.

EDIT:
Although all 3 unit preference tagged (offense, defense, artillery) seam kinda overkill.

The each their own, but I wouldn't give Austria a Scientific trait. Maybe Industrious, but not scientific.

I agree - for two reasons:

1. Mil/sci is the combo Germany already has.Ok, ind/mil is China, but I think it is even worse to have two civs with the same traits in the same culture groups, which even share language and border in reality.

2. I fail to see the reason why Austria should be scientific - I see no special or numerous inventions or famous reseachers here, which make them more than average in this category.Militaristic is out of question...the second: seafaring and expansionistic are completly absurd, religious would be odd too; commercial, agricultural and industrial would be among the best IMO, with a slight preference for industrial.

Where are these rumors of an "unlockable civ" coming from? Gamefaqs.com? :/ There's no "super-civ" in the game, although you could use the editor to give your civ all traits, and your UU 99 attack, defense and movement... but that would be cheating.

Mil/Ind combo works fine.

What worries me is 70cost Hussar.
That's means free upgrade from Knights.
So it needs to be put to 80.
But then its a UU with +1 attack and -1defense.
Kinda not too much.

What about Saltpeter requirement?
They don't seem to use rifles.

Uhhh....yah, that would definately be cheating, which I would never do...obviosly never.....of course I wouldn't do that...... :mischief:
