I don't know, haven't tried it either, but wouldn't it just be a big waste.

I don't think the unit can bombard once it is in an army. Plus, can artillery even load in an army? They dont have any hitpoints so I doubt it.

Arty can't be loaded into an army because it doesn't have attack or defense values.

It's never been possible to load artillery into an army. Neither can you put cannons, or workers, or any other unit that is not a land unit with a health bar.
