[BTS] Is this game challenging without an AI mod?

I will never, ever enable the time victory, it's just too boring
May as well have it enabled. You'll never actually win on time, but doesn't hurt to have it on.

The stupid AI worker management is probably because they always have to do something with their workers. We get into that situation at some point too: ""What shall I do with these guys now? Ah well, may as well just make more roads, or cut down jungle that is outside workable areas anyway. Keep them busy." But the AI (on higher difficulties) makes improvements faster and don't just park workers in cities or something if they have nothing sensible to do. So they turn one workshop to a farm and the neighbouring farm to a workshop. Excellent work guys !

Well if this is all it was it would be fine, the problem behavior is they're building farms and workshops over mature cottages, even towns! I suppose it hardly matters since they have large era bonuses by that point in the game, but still, it's just dumb to see them do that when they're not in an emergency war situation.

Yeah, totally agree. And the biggest annoyance about it is when they tear down towns in cities that will soon be ours. I want those towns, man :D

I guess the AI prefers the hammer economy. ;)
I thought the AI did some improvement changes to accommodate whether grown or stagnation was selected by the AI city manager which caused some of the back and forth changes.
