I guess yes, since I've noticed it's case sensitive.
I mean, once I tried to PM to Stormerne, and it told me "user unkown", whereas stormerne is correct.
Idem for the pictures uploaded. Thus, "Pic.gif" is different than "pic.gif"
Disturbing, isnt'it?

Deleted, incorrect information

Also, thought about this. The user name being incorrect has to do with the UBB software not the OS. On the Pic.gif and pic.gif. That could do with the http server and not the OS.

Are you sure with windows NT?

The HTTP header from forums.civfanatics.com says that the site is running

Apache/1.3.19 (Unix) PHP/4.0.4pl1

Apache is the most popular web server and it says that it is running under Unix.

FTP server that the site is running is NcFTPd

A quick look at the www.ncftpd.com/download shows that there is only a server for Mac, Linux, AIX, HP-UX, *BSD, etc. No WinNT support.
www.netcraft.com "what is the site running" feature claims that forums.civfanatics.com is running on Linux. So, we can be pretty sure they are not running Windows

It's a unix server. The entire site except the ladder site is hosted by Telefragged and they only have Unix servers.

The ladder site is hosted at readyhosting and the server there is Win2k, but it will soon be hosted on Trajan's own server...
