When the island features was just introduced, I mentioned that I wasn't done adding it to the map. A couple of suggestions ensued, but I failed to note them down.

The purpose of this thread is to bundle these suggestions again.

If you have an island group that should be represented on the map, simply suggest it here. Wiki links appreciated.

Oh, nice to read this. I had suggested adding plenty of them around Indonesia, particularly the Riau islands (off Singapore, between Malaya, Borneo and Sumatra), the Maluku (which BenZL has mentioned he'd like to see separate from the Papua Island), and the Nusa Tenggara chain (which would extend 2 or 3 tiles east from Java.

Greece's archipelagos in the aegean could use the feature, I won't mention a particular island or island group because there are tons and the space is tight, so just put the feature wherever fits.

Probably some of the lesser Antilles could be turned into the feature, and/or the coast tiles separating one island from the next could have the feature.

There is Åland and Ösel in Baltic Sea. Corsica could also be in game. However currently islands are next to worthless.

I was wondering if there was possible to have improvements like island villages/workshops/fisheries (if there is a seafood resource on the tile ext ext) and possibly give them slightly boosted yields to make them worth fighting over?

Well islands could maybe be improved by working boats. Villages and workshops does not make lot of sense because atleast I cant say any island had them.

Maybe oasis could also have a special improment //derail

That they are next to useless is sort of the point. +1 hammer is not completely useless though.

The Hebrides off the West coast of Scotland, 1W of cows. Possibly the Channel islands 2S of Southampton cows. Maybe even the Isle of Man.

Not that I have anything against adding hammers (islands) all over Europe and the Mediterranean, but I'll point out that these areas aren't really in need of extra production. Polynesia desperately needed the hammers, and I think the next civ that needs them is Indonesia (The Caribbean is in a similar situation, but there's no native civ there).

So please consider strengthening Indonesia more than the other civs when you add the island feature.

From the old thread.

Some Islands that I think you missed.
Aegean Sea, all the Greek islands. (x=68,y=43 - x=68,y=41, - x=69,y=41, - x=69,y=40)
1 West of the Azores, Azores are as long as the canaries. (x=43,y=43)
1 South West of Adelaide, kangaroo Island. (x=112,y=11)
A layer of islands on the tail-end of Argentina.
West of the Falklands, South Georgia Islands. (x=43,y=4)
North East of Scotland, Orkney Islands. (x=53,y=61)
Reunion. (x=81,y=15)

Isle of Man and also Kuril islands -- would look very nice with new island feature and will help Japanese Northen city.

Also some island can be replaced with Island feature, like Bering Islands.

Some possible locations for islands:

Europe
- I tile west of Ponta Delgada. Represents the Azores and makes Ponta Delgada slightly less crappy. (43, 43)
- Some islands in the Aegean Sea. (69, 41), (69, 42) Not all of them need to be represented IMO. Adding islands to these tiles will do the job IMO.
- Near Hawaii. (4, 36)
- Bahrain and Qatar. (79, 36)
- Kuril Islands (117, 52)
- Reunion and Mauritius (77, 14). IRL, they are a bit more to the east. But this tile makes the accessible.
- Maldives (88, 27) OR (88, 28) and move the island tile 1 south.
- Various locations in Indonesia. (102, 27), (103, 23), (1089, 24), (107, 34), (110, 26), (110, 27)
- Kangaroo Island near Adelaide (112, 11)

Also, how could you forget to add pearl near Pearl Harbor?;)

I think we shouldn't add EVERY island we have in mind :crazyeye:

Pfft. Clearly we need to represent both the outer and inner hebrides on seperate tiles, as well as the Orkneys and Shetlands, and the Isle of Wight. And Sealand (spawns in 1975).

There are tones of islands in sea near the Japan, Philippine and Indonesian islands, south of Korean peninsula, and Strait of Malacca. These islands provides economic activities and militaristic benefits IRL.

Well it would be logical that islands are more productive than sea/ocean tiles because if person start to work he would first go to near island than sea between them. Say 2 food (+1 harbour), 2/3 commercial (more from colossus) and 1 hammer would make islands much better but not OP.

I don't get what the problem is, 2F1H2C is a perfectly fine tile, and for the longest time better than a watermill I might add, because you can't just not bring up Watermills in every conversation.
