Currently behind you with a knife.
You all know that one civ on that far away Island and ends up the most worthless civ right?
well this Map puts YOU as that civ with no contacts. The Idea is to see if you can still come out on top with no early wars or trading with anyone, the only people you meet are barbarians. Untill later in the game.

oh and yea I know, its just to anoy people

Well Kefka, your scenario is quite unpopular, I suppose, because most civ player know this situation. This is a situation in which there is only one real alternative: restart. I know it is very challenging, but it is nearly impossible to win or even come into the best three civs without contact to other civs. In civ 2 it might have been possible because of the great libary. But not in Civ3- without cheating.

I can do this, I have before, on random maps. Of course that is on anything below Monarch. :)

Weither is popular or not dosen't matter, I played it had a decent time, didn't win got third though. The trick is to trade just about anything you can and destroy the Barbarians as quick as possible.

Can you post a pic of the map?

I won a random game like this....I was Japan and had my own island with 4 cities. But I was close to the main island...and was able to get a one city foothold. Took out tho Mongols....and it went uphill from there. :)

If I could I would. Haven't figured out how again.

If you want you can.

there are classic examples of this situation, i only say: cgcannons challenge ....

but anyway, i like your map. i just post a small picture of it:

bluebox thx for posting the map.
Not being able to post up maps right now is one of the main reason I dont make too many maps.

that and time/skill lol

 I hadn't even noticed that. That's is too funny. Should have named him Forest Gump. "Run, Forest! Run!"
