issue with display in Civ 4 Beyond the Sword

I've just installed Beyond the Sword retail version to a Civ 4 previously bought online and patched to 1.74.

i've previously patched the install to try to resolve my issue but to no avail hence seeking help!

I can play the game but unlike when I played civ 4 original I dont have backgrounds to menus and buttons meaning the text is sort of floating and v difficult to read. The screen shot attached shows this for both the normal menu and also the sliders to decide research etc. In addition Im also unable to zoom in and out of the map with my mouse/pointer to gain a greater perspective of terrain.

That's a problem with the incompatibility of the digital and the retail version, and there's no way to fix that, onyl buying a compatible version will do it.

Did you install by using right clicking on the setup file and choosing run as administrator or did you let the disc auto-run? If you didn't use run as administrator for both the initial BTS installation and the 3.19 patch try un-installing and re-installing this time using that method. It may help, but as The J said, there are problems with mixing downloaded and disc versions and you may be out of luck.
