Issue with downloading a particular mod

I don't know why but two Religion mods, made by Ryoga, refuse to download to my Civ 5 game, no matter what I do. I cleared the Steam cache, restarted the game many times, and yet, the particular 2 mods refuse to download. I mailed the Steam company and yet no response from them! Please someone help?

To note that all other mods I have downloaded from Steam, were downloaded without problems. They download and install automatically to the game and in general I never had such issues like that in the past. However, Ryoga's mods for some reason aren't downloading and installing to the game, no matter how many times I restart the game or re-connect to the steam. And the Steam itself doesn't helps that much as it does not favor the manual mod installation. Its frustrating

Anyone has those mods by Ryoga downloaded to his game to mail me a copy of them? The mods are Christian Schisms and Strange Religions and can be found here:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=80731020
and
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=80943398

Note: I noticed that there are other people too who commented in the Mod's pages that they are too having troubles downloading ryoga's mods to their games, but no solution has been found to the issue.

I searched Internet for hours but it didn't find anything on this matter. I looked for Ryoga's mods in various Civ 5 sites including this one, to install them manually without using the Steam, but haven't had any luck. Please can someone get any of the abovementioned mods and send them to me?

Steam works just fine for all the mods except those 2 from Ryoga. Can someone get me those mods? I will give you my mail address, if thats ok. I guess helping me may cost ya 5 minutes from your time, but please, you will make a player so thankful and relieved! I can't wait to start playing the religious wars in Medieval Europe and Middle East! :lol:

And by the way, irrelevant to the above subject, soon I will upload to civfanatics.com my "Better Ottoman City Names", the first mod I made for Civilization 5! :D

I reinstalled Steam now, and Steam got fully updated to latest Steam version, but mod download issue still persists. Other mods download fine while Ryoga's religious mods still are not downloading.

I have God & Kings, so it couldn't be the cause of the issue.

What shall I do? I am gonna cry. I really want to play Medieval Europe with Catholic Christianity, Orthodox Christianity and Protestantism, that's why I purchased God & Kings in first place. :(

Please anyone who can get the mod for me? I will be sooo grateful and finally be able to enjoy it!

EDIT: I really hate Steam now -_-

I am depressed by the lack of responses. Been waiting for 3 hours now. No one is willing to help? :(

People already comment to Ryoga to post the mods to other sites as well due to the experienced issue described above. I guess my only viable option is to directly contact him/her to send me a copy of his mods. Otherwise perhaps I could re-install my game?

I wonder if re-installing the game fixes the steam issue? I just purchased and installed my game this September but for some reason I feel unsure if a reinstallation of a fresh installation will fix anything...

Unable rather than unwilling. Plus 3 hours is a very short time to expect a response in when you do not have people being paid to maintain a help line 24 hours a day, people come on this site when they can which may not even be every day and only a small subset of those people may use mods. There may be some help in the creation and customisation forum, you could try there.

Ahhh, silly me, :crazyeye: I thought there was employee in the technical support who responds quickly or something like that. I apologize for my noobity :lol: You are right, in this case 3 hours indeed are too short time..

Thank you dear alot for your response, :goodjob: Will give a try to your suggestion :D I hope for the best and that Firaxis will finally import the 3 Schismatic Christian religions from the "Into the Renaissance" to the main game itself, so people don't have to go all this trouble downloading unofficial mods to enjoy in-game content that is already in game, but are restricted to particular scenarios.

I am about the only one OC enough to hang out here. I do not use any mods, other than the time I went for my acheivment in steam. Sometimes I do not feel the need to remind people they may get more traffic in the mods section of the Civ 5 forum instead of the technical support thread. If I do and then they get an answer here and never come back here, then I have also failed.

Well, :D posted a thead in the "Creation and Customization" forums (guess it is the right "Mod forum" everyone is talking about).

Lets hope someone will be willing to get/share the damn mod with me - all what I ask is simple and does not takes more than 5 minutes - just go to Steam > Workshop, subscribe to the targeted mods, then run the game to download them. The mods could now be found in your Mods folder of the user > My Documents directory in your computer. Zip them and e-mail them to me. Simple! Really I wish my friends in real life had Civ 5 so I could rely on them rather than on help from sites, as friends usually help faster. :) I am here since yesterday in this site and still waiting...

But I guess none is gonna help here, and dunno know if its worth waiting the whole day here in the website. I mean... this thread had over 150+ reads/visits today, but yet any help seems unlikely. Better I start my Religious Wars campaign with a generic Christian religion for Catholic Christians, a Buddhist religion for Orthodox Christians, and Taoism for Protestant Christians and Islam for Islamic civs. How sad. It could been much cooler if Greece and Russia had Orthodox Christianity, England, Sweden and Denmark had Protestant Christianity as did historically. ;(

Oh well, even if someone is paid, it doesn't mean that they are always there.
e.g. the 2K forums have a community manager, but it's also only 1 guy, and he's AFAIK not responsible for the tech support.

Be sure, there are some more ;).

Certainly not. You should in general expect a reaction time of at least 24 hours, because we're a multinational site, and the relevant people just might not be here at the right time.

And if you now look at me: I can't help, I don't have a Steam account, sorry :sad:.

Hehe, yeah I guess. :lol: Civfanatics is really cool and any mods I make, will be exclusive to CivFanatics.com. :D
Steam deserves to be boycotted for not allowing gamers to manually download mods for their games when it fails to do so automatically. :mad:

I found how to unlock the other 2 Christian Religions in the game, without a need for using mods.

Search for a file called Civ5Religions.txt in your game's installation folder. Open it.
Add the following lines in it:

<Row>
<Type>RELIGION_ORTHODOXY</Type>
<Description>TXT_KEY_RELIGION_ORTHODOXY</Description>
<Civilopedia>TXT_KEY_RELIGION_ORTHODOXY_PEDIA</Civilopedia>
<IconAtlas>RELIGION_ATLAS_WHITE</IconAtlas>
<PortraitIndex>12</PortraitIndex>
<IconString>[ICON_RELIGION_ORTHODOX]</IconString>
</Row>
<Row>
<Type>RELIGION_PROTESTANTISM</Type>
<Description>TXT_KEY_RELIGION_PROTESTANTISM</Description>
<Civilopedia>TXT_KEY_RELIGION_PROTESTANTISM_PEDIA</Civilopedia>
<IconAtlas>RELIGION_ATLAS_WHITE</IconAtlas>
<PortraitIndex>13</PortraitIndex>
<IconString>[ICON_RELIGION_PROTESTANT]</IconString>
</Row>

Save your edits and... voila! Next time you play the game, Orthodox Christianity and Protestant Christianity will be available to choose from the Religions List for your civilization's religion!
And it is pointless to say they work PERFECTLY in-game: they have proper names, proper in-game tooltips and symbols and their proper Civilopedia entries! And the best of all is that they are fully compatible with savegames! :)

Enjoy!

E.G.: To the people who are willing to help me, please, still I could want to get those 2 religion mods from Steam. Please! :)

Am about to try this out, so won't know for a little while if it works.

However, did want to provide immediate feedback that the correct file name to edit is actually Civ5Religions.xml

Oh, thanks for the correction, my mistake, indeed, it is not a .txt file but .xml. :)

Here is a picture of the game. There are 2 extra religion symbols available to choose from in the game when you are founding a religion. :)

Works 100% perfectly, has zero bugs, and I already enjoyed 3 campaigns with the new religions! Have fun! ;)
