It's There, But I Can't Get to It!

Ancient lack of Paint skills on my part, I think. The screen shots are actually from COTM 49.

Oh Ok... I just assumed that I was missing something about using this forum. Life is never boring at Civ Fan

BTW have you used Paint dot Net. it makes resizing much easier. it is also free.

I keep Paint around just because it is easier to paste a small pic on a bigger pic but dot net is useful.

He got nailed at 2 tiles away. That doesn't happen too often. Most of the time volcanoes lava only one tile away. Units get hit by volcanoes fairly often, I once saw another civ's invading army get destroyed by an eruption as they approached one of my cities. Sometimes volcanoes erupt without warning, if I remember right.

I took a pic yesterday of an erupted volcano that did not touch another tile. All lava was on the volcano itself. I had never seen that before. I usually don't bother to improve tiles next to volcanoes because I don't want to waste the worker turns but it seemed safe for that one. (I don't entirely trust the rule that they erupt onto the same tiles every time. I have seen that rule broken.)

I see volcanoes only erupt on themselves all the time.

I've seen that same tile eruption more than a few times, but not very often. Never heard of the rule that lava always strikes the same tiles, and like you, it's not something I've seen in the games I've played. Eventually, all the tiles seem to get lava'd.

Cleaning up the lava takes a lot of time. The AI tends to ignore cleaning up lava. Thanks for indirectly reminding me of that fact because I had not taken AI actions into account when I modded the game's worker jobs. I usually keep a stack of workers near volcanoes to rapidly clean up the mess, but the AI has been ignoring lava'd tiles altogether in my last test game. Even when a resource has been lava'd that they desperately need. I probably should reduce the time it takes to clean up lava/pollution so the AI will put workers to the job. The AI usually only puts one or two workers on a job, and I think because the job took so long, they simply ignored cleaning up lava as part of the AI programming.
