What on.....5 of my standard, regular warriors FELL REPEATEDLY, YES, ALL AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, TO just 1, yes, 1, enemy, regular warrior. I'm serious. Just what are the actual odds of such possibilities?

All 5 fell to that defending warrior in 1 straight row......I've really had it with this blasted game-that's it.

To calculate the odds, we need to know these facts:

fortified?
town size?
walls?
river?
terrain?

I also have the feeling that sometimes there is a 'you are not allowed to win' situation, no matter with what unit you attack and where.

I usually reload, relax one round and the next round everything is much better and all the battles go normal.

The enemy's town size was around 4 and wasn't with any walls whatsoever....there weren't any rivers nearby and the whole area was unfortified

Assuming he was fortified in a town on grassland with no walls and he didn't gain experience between fights and you didn't cross a river to attack, about one in a hundred. Pretty good odds, actually, considering how many battles there are in a game. If he came out without losing any hits about 0.0002. If any of my assumptions are wrong, his odds will go up.

The chance of the attacking warrior losing one battle is 63.8%, and the chance of that happening five times in a row is 10.6%. So, this is the kind of thing you'll see quite often during a game.

Also, does this mean you won't be visiting us anymore Andre? Thanks.

The 0.638**5.0 is simplistic because it doesn't account for accumulated damage.

That's true, it's not exact. But, it also doesn't allow the warrior to get a promotion, so I figured it would about balance out.

We can set limits by assuming a 15 hp unit attacks.

3 hp defender
1/140 chance of defeat

5 hp defender
1/22 chance of defeat

Certainly not out of the range of "normal" bad luck. What happened to those swordmen, Andre?

They were warriors. And like I said before, 5 out of the 8 regular warriors in my group had just fallen to that defending spearman....all in just a single turn

and when one can easily lose three-quarters of an army in just a merem turn or two......

Andre!
Call yerself a general?

Did it occur to you that the warrior is the most crap unit in the game?
Why did you rely on such a poor unit?
Why don't you just attack with archers or swordsmen?
or even your UU if available...

Sheesh!

Go back to military academy!

Now I am confused, you said you lost 5 warriors against one warrior, but here you also now say that you lost 5 of 8 warriors against a spearman first. Which is it?

Oh, and unless you have 10-20 warriors, do not bother going after a spearman, as in the case you described, a single regular spearman in a town (undoubtedly fortified as per normal AI behavior), your regular warrior has only a 20% chance of winning the battle, and once the spearman bumps off one or two of your guys and gets promoted to veteran, it is only 9% chance of winning. At elite it is only 3%.

Remember, it is not your 8 attack warriors added together, it is a 1 attack unit against a fortified 2 defense unit five times. Given that you say the defender lost some hit points, I would say this is exactly what you should have expected.
