JJ02-The Mystery Variants

Troublesome years for England. While going to found a new city to hook up much needed resources, the Chinese launch a sneak attack on London. The new city of Hastings is founded, but is located by the Chinese and sacked two turns later. A hasty defense of London holds the city with no losses.

550BC Moved warrior toward the beaver, with intention of bringing settler next turn.

535BC Realized Nottingham was working on a Granary, while finishing the Obelisk was necessary, so I switched production back to the Obelisk.

520BC Qin declares war on us for no apparent reason.
London finishes worker, begins Chariot. A double upgraded chariot and a warrior bear down on London. Nottingham and York switch production to Chariots. Warriors leave Nottingham and York and head for London.

505BC Exploring warrior in the far north is killed by a barbarian warrior. Insult on top of injury.
Chariots in London and York are whipped. Warriors working on iron mine run away.
Polytheism is completed, Alphabet began.
Hastings founded near beaver, warrior began.

490BC Peter requests open borders; deal accepted.
London and York chariots promoted to Flanking strike. Additional chariots began. Reinforcements reach London, more coming. Workers go back to mining since enemy is out of range.

475BC London chariot kills Qin chariot on defense. Qin warrior heads for our workers.
2 Qin chariots appear at new city of Hastings. How did they know that city was there?
London chariot is promoted to Flanking2 and kills Qin's warrior. :)

460BC Hastings destroyed by Qin.

445BC Chariot completed in London, Library began. Chariot has unused upgrade.

430BC Kublai asks for open borders; accepted.
Qin's chariots appear near London.

415BC Nottingham finishes Obelisk, begins Settler.

400BC Iron online, London switches to Axeman.

I took a look at the save game. This will be a fun one to try to pull out especialy with our idiosencracies (which will get even worse as time goes on) We need to get this war with Quin over with as few losses as possible and hit Asoka with swords ASAP. We need to get that city south of our capital in place as well. Iron and swords is really are only advantage and we need to use it quickly. Asoka is a better target than the Khan.

when i think of my varriants , the hard and medium one will probably of ended by the time my easy one starts.

Really nothing at all to report about this turnset, took about 10 minutes.

Inherited turn: Why are we researching alphabet when it has been going for 5 turns and still has 25 to go? I know we can trade it for basic techs when we get it but we need the basic techs now. Switch research to Hunting (going for archery).

IT: Iron-guarding Warrior killed by chariot. Other chariot doesn't attack.

1. zzz

IT: A chariot guarding the iron is killed.

2. Kill both chariots with our own.

3. zzz

4. Hunting-Archery

5-8. Nothing special. Produce first axe and sword. Start another axe in London.

IT: Archery-Masonry(to hoook up marble). The next player can veto that if they want.

9-10. Start first archer in York. Sould be used to guard new city.

The nest player sould start building up the military, and by the turnset after that we should be at war. I also feel that we are falling behind on science, but it is hard when we are a financial civ, yet have little grassland for cottages.

One of Sprite's variants seems to be putting two completely unrelated pics in every report. :crazyeye:
I think you seems to change all the cities to work hammers insted of food.

Ding ding ding ding ding!

Quote from JJ02 variant assignments for SpriteSODA:

(Medium) Irrelevant Screen-Shot Guy

This one doesn't actually affect game-play, but it sure makes it tough on your teammates. None of your screenshots may match what you're describing. Have fun with this one. Take a shot of your capital when you're describing a battle in a foreign city. Or have the combat log cover up what you really should be showing.

Pholkhero edit: --you said it...it doesn't affect gameplay. That's not too good and it will get old after a bit, I think. Hmmm..another medium variant is needed . . . "The Resource Guarder" ~ all resources w/in your borders must have a unit stationed on them, even to the detriment of city garrisons??

Rex comment: It's a good point about getting old quickly, but his "Resource Guarder" idea is about as interesting as he is. I really put this one in there because your "Hard" variant is really hard. How 'bout you keep the irrelevant screen shot, but only do one per set, or something? If you don't like it, use Pholk's idea.

Darn! I was going for an unhealthy obsession with livestock there.

will play tonight

It started quietly. Feet rustling in the night, then sounds of chains breaking, then muffled screams. In one night ruler of the English lands was killed and the ex-slave Blastoid was raised in his place. The revolution spread quickly across the land, the slaves were freed the military was freed from Sprite’s paranoia on protecting the capital rushed west. The warriors now under Blastoid's control swept into the cities of York and Nottingham, bringing calm and asserting his rule. Workers freed from there oppression flee the gold mines and work on a better network to connect our empire and open up paths to attack.

Emissaries were sent to Quinn seeking an end to a needless war, they were returned in pieces. But Quinn is far away and seems not to be a threat. So in a gamble to keep the civilization from becoming a backwater, war is declared against the Mongol to reverse the Khan’s expansion into our lands. 2 swords, 2 axes and 2 chariots are sent against the city of Beshbalik and though the two axes die in the storming, the city is taken. The chariots race ahead and plunder the iron mine of Genghis, now hopefully Genghis has no copper or iron.

At the end of Blastoid’s reign A force of Axe have marched onto the hill west of Nottingham, but the city is well protected (1 chariot, 1 axe and 1-2 warriors), a sword in our new city of Beshbalik and two chariots and a another sword near the city of Turfan. Turfan has two archers in it one with no promotions the other with city garrison 3. Genghis’ city close to our capital had only one archer last I checked. I have taken their copper and pillaged their iron so hopefully they have none remaining.

I would suggest taking Turban, razing the city closer to our capital and then declaring peace with a battered Genghis.

Long live the Slave Kings of England!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sprite. I have a feeling that one of your varients is that you can only place units in your capital and leave all other cities unguarded. You are able to use units to guard your resources though and have used this to place units close enough to the cities for me to get them back in. I assume you can send units into enemy and neutral territory as well. If this is the case then it is good that quin attacked us on the capital side and not the other side. If this is the varient it is a nasty one.
