Buecephalus
Bolo Mark XXV
So I was doing pretty well. I had a substantial lead in tech and culture and the game was in the mid-1990's. It was also kinda...well, slow. It was me and 3 other civs, the Iriquois, Aztecs, and Russians. So I took it upon myself to pick a fight with the Iriquois next door. They and the Aztecs with whom they had a mutual protection pact, responded with spearmen and mounted warriors while my tanks were razing about two of their cities per turn. After 4 turns my people got war-weary and so I sued for peace with both tribes. In the process, a leader was created! I took it to Philidelphia and had it finish United Nations for me. Next turn, I got a window asking if I wanted to vote for UN president, innocently I agreed and everybody voted for Catherine the Great! I lost! Just like that? Yer kidding? Nope, it was true, I'd spent a total of 14 hours playing just to screw up and let 'em vote me out, when I probably would've won a cultural victory in regulation time. Ah well, it was still a blast. I won't make the same mistake next time.
