keeps crashing when contacting civs

This is the first time trying GoTM, i have installed all the files like it says and when i run the game it seems fine. The problem comes when i try to contact another civ, the diplomacy screen doesn't even appear, it says that mp3dec.asi has tried to do something illegal and the whole system crashes.
This only started happening after installing GoTM files.
What do i do?

I had the same problem on the last GOTM (greece) but fixed by:

1. getting the GOTM spain downloads and installing it

2. Getting the caravel unit download and installing it

3. I had to fix up the Pictures shown when you contact other civs. ie go to the folder ART/FLICS and in there the install puts the .flc files into folder like spain1 etc but they shouldn't be they should be all in the base folder of FLICS. You have to rename each one before moving them to be what the folder is that you are copying them from like spain.flx and spaina.flc andd spain.flc etc
