KharakMOD - Development Thread

Lol beat me to that, I was gonna say you should do that... maybe later on you can make a mod of HW2 between the Hiigaran's, and Vaygr... and also the many other races of HW and HW2 oh and I'm forgetting HW catacysim too :P there are many races... as far as I can tell from the Relic development network and forum they have a large amount of mods for the game itself :D

Hmm... speaking of which If you never seen the site... I'll post it... I hang around there sometimes as well as here :P you can get idea's and stuff from the people who work the mods in HW2 and the orginal HW that is if you have never been to the place before...

they do other mods too of other games here as well, the HW mods section is near the bottom area of the forum threads ;)
 
Any space-based mods (such as Vagr and Hiigaran wars etc) will be taken up at a later date when we get both graphic designers and python workers. This project is strictly for Kharak and Pre-Mothership history of the Kushans.

My computer was broken for some time, but now it is back to full strength so once I get done with finals I will be working on personalities. :goodjob:

Yeah, I've used that forum quite a bit for inspiration and ideas regarding this Mod, but if you happen to find anything else on there that may be specifically helpful in the Mod, private message me or post them and I will look into it. Thanks.
 
I was just looking over your MOD and i will put some leaderheads in if you give me some pics, would be nicer if they were animated ok from the graphics section or request some from them. Or if you have some building to add also. Or something else i can help with, ok? BUt of course only after Warlords have been converted, ok.
 
For now, I am not making the change over to Warlords, at least until after I have the leader personalities and map finished. After that I will get the mod converted, but I want to make it playable first before I make the change.

I would still really like you to make me those leaderheads if you can. All I want is the current flags to be used as the leaderheads, at least for now. So take the pictures that you used for the flags and make them work for leaderheads and email them to me.

2. No, my mod is about Pre-Mothership timeline of the Kushan, there will be no spaceships in this mod. This mod is about the history of the Kushans on Kharak, I will get to spaceships later ;)

I started this Mod before I had Warlords, and I am content with having this be a Vanilla Mod until I finish the first phase, then I will convert to Warlords for the extra features.

EDIT: What kind of units do you want added, i will do ten of them if you want for now, units are pretty easy for me now.
Name you want on them, what type of unit you want etc, you can place them i will just place them in the common area, ok
 
No, your edit didnt come up as a new post. As far as units go there is only one unit which I would really like to add to this particular mod. Since this mod has to do with Kushan life on Kharak, most of the units will remain the same. However, there is one unit which is not in real life but is mentioned quite a bit in this history of the Kushans:

Desert Sail-Ships

Basically, you could take the graphic for any ocean going unit (preferably a Caraval) and simply alter it so that instead of working on Ocean or Sea squares, it works only on Desert squares.

I am unsure how to do this, but if you can help with that I would be delighted to add it to the Mod as it is a very important part of the Kushan history. :)

NOTE: I will be posting a new version of the Mod shortly, as I have made some new and extensive changes I am quite proud of!

Thanks for the support guys, I have been really busy lately because of the holidays, but I have just uploaded the newest version of the mod -details in post 2. I am also using FileFactory for the upload, and it will be deleted if not downloaded in a week, so if anyone has trouble with it I will be happy to re-upload it.

Hey nice.

Kharack certainly lends itself for CIV better than most SciFi backgrounds.

Some ideas:

You could change the replace oceans by 'deep desert' only traversable by sandtransports trains / sails etc.
Terrain-prevalence can be modified in a pyton mapscript, look at Oasis for a good example.

SpaceRace is obviously very important to this mod, so you may want to have a Crashed Spaceship Resource.
Or some capturable specialunit that is recovered from such a crashsite by archeologist, which factions can then fight over. And which is required to research spaceflight.
You could scatter 'goodyhut'-like deposits of ancient pre-Kharak technology, that needs to be taken back home, sacrificed like a greatperson.

Or they could just give a free tech advance.
And the spaceship archeology dip a great wonder.
 
Glad you like it man, I am really proud of what I have done so far, and I hope you'll be one of my beta testers over the coming months when new versions are released. Soon I'll have the next version up, which will try to make leaders fit their faction's personality better. P.S. Once I am all but done with it, I am surely going to make a Hiigaran-type scenario too, of the Kushans repopulating Homeworld after their landfall.

With btS out u can just use the final frontier mod
